They have had a vote on a Government motion that was passed by a majority of 310. Only 31% of Tories voted for it, the PM had to rely on the opposition to get it passed. The Tories split three ways, for, against, and abstain. The party is disintegrating in front of our very eyes. SH claims to be a Tory, but which part of the Tory party might that be?

Tonight the PM will be asked a simple question. If you do not get the deal through Parliament, will there be a referendum or a general election, or will article 50 be revoked? I wonder which of the options she will choose?

 

She'll probably be asking for an extension of time to formulate an answer...

Seriously though, I'd have more sympathy with her if she stopped trying to carve her name in history (other than as a complete insufferable imbecile) and do what is best for the nation which is what the majority in Parliament, being more informed than the electorate, are trying to do.

If they could see their way clear to cancelling HS2 as well that would be a Brucie Bonus! Can't afford it now, let alone if we do leave.

How very apt it seems that today we have seen the first picture of a black hole in space. Just like Brexit it sucks everything that goes near it into the darkness. We can take control of everything, yet we are no longer in control, but relying on the goodwill of others. Instead of funding so many things that are important we are wasting billions of pounds on this ideology that are just disappearing into that deep hole, never to be seen again.

The only idea which has a majority both in Parliament and amongst the people is the idea that we are suffering a national humiliation. According to a recent poll 90% believed this - from all sides of the debate. This happens to some countries, at some times - Germany in 1918, Russia in 1991, France during World War 2. The main difference is that ours is completely self inflicted. What is important is how countries react - do they caste the blame on everybody bar themselves, or is it a new beginning ?

 

The UK simply requires a change in leadership at the top of the Tory party to somebody that will not bow to pressure from the establishment that will do anything to avoid Brexit. It was a serious mistake to allow a remainer to lead at this crucial time. May must be replaced a.s.a.p. with somebody that believes in our democratic process and has the balls to carry out the decision of the British people to leave the dreadful EU.

 

What total nonsense. Change your leader as many times as you like, it will not change the arithmetic of Parliament. The MPs are the people that were elected to serve, and the voters chose to take away the majority that the Tories had, reflecting very much the split created by the referendum. Last night we witnessed 27 countries, who didn't agree, find a compromise, something that seems to be outside the range of the hardliners within the Tory party. It is rather funny to think that Macron has more say over the UKs membership of the EU than the government.

 

Again another I must say truly awful comment. I don't think anyone on here but you finds this sort of crud funny.
Ialso remember you have never been slow in complaining about this sort of stereo typing when it goes on your direction.

Yes the EU has to work with consensus compromise. With our broken system we lurch from adversarial crisis to advesarial crisis.

Is that the election that saw the Tories win for the third time in a row? The EU loving LibDems were totally ignored by the electorate.

The Macron boy's dream of further intergration in Europe will take a battering at the European elections. The surge in eurosceptisism across Europe will result in a very different EU parliament.
