It seems to me that with the latest revelations about Gyan leaving for a lesser league and of course Bent leaving for "football reasons" you would think these numpties are deliberately trying to alienate themselves from the fans. We see both good and average players (being generous there) holding clubs to randsom with ever increasing wage demands putting pressure on the clubs which in turn filters down to the average fan. Can these players/agents not see that they are killing the game and distancing themselves from the fans? What will make them realise what they are doing, playing in half empty stadiums as the fans vote with their feet as all they can see is individuals many with the morales of an alley cat bleed their club dry and for what? How can any youngster lookup to some of these so called superstars when mediocrity, excess and stupidy is looked on as normal.
It's very simple. Money. One day football will implode on itself due to its own sheer greed. I'm off down the local park to watch 2 pub teams play cos they enjoy it put some ****ing effort in. Totally ****ed off at the greed of the so called pro's.
Totally agree mate, as you know I watch and have coached kids football and enjoy it mainly due to the wee lad. A lot of fans say they love their club something which IMO is a very strong emotion that should be kept for their family. I support the club but feel the game is being destroyed by greed and certain players something which if not addressed will fester away and eventually exploded. I've read a few posts querying attendance figures and so on but in all honesty the modern day footballer is so far removed from the fan is it any wonder.
Your right about imploding Chunky, I am also getting sick of travelling around the country supporting Sunderland only to be let down by some greedy twat refusing to put any effort in. Their are some good honest players who realise how lucky they are, most of the foreign mercenaries don't give a ****. The sad thing is some of the owners are not any better, I would be gutted if some Indian chicken farmers who know nothing about football took over our club. Lets try and look at things at our club Quinn and Short love Sunderland football club Before everyone shoots me down the fans have been mostly in favour of Bruce. Its not Bruces fault Bent left for money however he did know he wanted to move and did not replace him IT IS HIS FAULT the way we are playing at the moment IT IS HIS FAULT he new Gyan has been unhappy and crap IT IS HIS FAULT he failed to get a Striker in in time IT IS HIS FAULT he chased Crouch who refused us before. IT IS HIS FAULT we have needed a L.B a L.W and a recognised striker in and these positions have not been filled. We all said it was a big season for Bruce and atm he is failing badly. He has 3 games to get at least 6 points we cannot wait untill xmas it needs changing quickly. One more worrying thing for me is if we sack the manager has Short got the money to give to the next manager to spend because although everyone wants Bruce out O;Neil, Moyes Annchelotti Hughes or whoever you want come in they will want to be guaranteed a kitty
OK, look at it this way, it's not just the players who are greedy ****s but the clubs & the tv companies as well. The landlady of that pub in Portsmouth won her case as far as I know although things seem to have gone quiet on that. So,,,,,, if Sky get the lip on & tell the EPL to get to **** where does that leave the game? ****ed totally is the answer.
Think your totally wrong there, if SKY/ESPN f****** off that would be THE best thing for my love of football and SAFC as well. Overhyped and overpaid w****** who have a self opinion of their worth that is as far removed from reality of everyday supporters and life as it can be. I'd rather turn up on a cold wet winters day at an uncovered ground with f*** all facilities to cheer on 11 lads who loved playing football and playing for SAFC in particular.
Oh aye, I agree but the clubs over rely on tv income to operate. Have a look at what's happened in Scotland.
Billy, I understand what you say about Scotland, and the position there from a financial standpoint is pretty grim. However I'm looking not just at the immediate/short or even mid term future, it's the long term future I believe is what matters, for SAFC and football. The influx of cash from TV has brought about an influx of foreign owners with wadges of cash to throw at "their club" for their own reasons (ego, status, whatever) which is in real danger of taking the game that came from US the supporters - not them - and creating a monster akin to all these b****y celebrity shows that infest the box nowadays. I love football, I love SAFC because it is something that is WITHIN me. The current way things are going leaves me with a dread that that love will be forever crushed beneath the jackboots of people with a love of a different sort... money.
I love football too but it's getting to the stage where I'd rather go to watch Sunday morning teams play for the love of the game not cos there being wedged 60 g's a week into their bank accounts. All I ask of our pro's is maximum effort. Is that too much to ask?
if short will give backing i could see moyes coming to sunderland and no one will critisise him for it
Tell you what mate, some of those lads are in their 40's, smoke like Middlesboro but put proper effort in. Christ some of the tackles leave nowt to the imagination lad. I used to enjoy playing Sunday league but too old & poor health now.
