I'm over 50 and boy do I still bear a grudge. I hope we annhilate them and they lose their ground and they lose their league status. Hopefully in the very near future.
Jack Ross had provided the latest news from the treatment room, with Aiden McGeady doubtful for tomorrow’s Sky Bet League One meeting with Burton Albion. Press conference: Watch Ross' preview Tickets: Sunderland v Burton Albion McGeady missed Saturday’s win at Rochdale on Saturday after being forced off in midweek at Accrington Stanley with a foot injury. Lynden Gooch then picked up a hamstring injury 31 minutes into Sunderland’s win at Spotland, leaving the American sidelined for the next week alongside Lee Cattermole, Reece James and Adam Matthews. “Aiden (McGeady) remains doubtful for tomorrow’s game against Burton Albion,” Ross told the media at his pre-match press conference on Monday. “He did a little bit this morning, but we will just see how he reacts tonight and tomorrow morning and then we’ll make a decision from there. “There’s obviously a balance to be met about tomorrow evening and the games we have left. We want to make sure we don’t have him unavailable for a significant amount of time. “Lee Cattermole will still be absent tomorrow evening and so too will Lynden Gooch with his injury from the weekend.” He continued: “Duncan Watmore, Chris Maguire, Adam Matthews and Reece James remain missing as well, so we’re pretty stretched at the moment. “Lynden will probably be out for about seven to ten days – he’s had a similar injury to this already this season.”
I’m not sure they are a bogey team. We beat them away last season, capitulated at home last season, and didn’t turn up this season. We will win this. 2-0.
It's not really about being forgiving though Rooch. I wasn't there because I wasn't alive. I get that the situation was pretty disgraceful but because I wasn't in the moment I have no real hatred or grudge to bear over it. Wishing a club out of business is a step too far IMO because then we're hoping these working class families with kids' club that they invest their hard earned money into, much like we do, is gone forever; and I don't agree with that. You and many others have that grudge, that's fine, but I and many othere don't share it.
The one we had that started the game at the weekend. Easily. Team spirit can carry you so much further than a team with no backbone. We've got characters with balls now too not some of those spineless cowards who couldn't give a toss.
Normally I would never want a club to go bust. Certainly not the Mags for example. They've done nothing to deserve it. Of course I want to batter them in the derbies once we get back to the same league and finish above them and I always hope they lose … that's what your local rivals are for. But there it ends. Exception made for Coventry. They're match fixers and I too hope they lose their ground and end up in the Northern League (or whatever the ****ty Midlands equivalent is) and Jimmy Hill's remains are dug up and ceremoniously laid out outside the SoL for our fans to piss on.
I hated Coventry for a while but I'm really not that bothered now. Water under the bridge and all that. One of my best mates is from Coventry and I've got to know the City fairly well and like the place and most of the people I've met there. I was no fan of Jimmy Hill but he is no more, he has ceased to be, he is bereft of life, he rests in peace, and is an ex-cheat.
When I was a young lad, I had a Renault Clio Williams 2. I was driving away from Coventry, I’d been to see a pal in Leamington, and I was distracted, probably by some bird, and I hit an island in the middle of the road. It ripped the gearbox out from underneath, and the car was a write off. I ****ing loved that car. I ****ing despise that **** ugly concrete bullshit place for that. I can take or leave the ****face shovel chinned ****cunt who is long gone, but Coventry is death by association and anything to do with the place can **** clean off. The fact that they ****ed us over prior to my birth just adds to it frankly. I hope that Wasps tell them to go and suck a dick and they end up playing in a field full of horse **** with their awful accents and their **** kits. They used to be sponsored by Peugeot as well, and David Speedie was a ****ing ****y prick. Aye **** Coventry. Moving swiftly on....
