on the Quest programme last night that shows Championship football and below, a question was put to Olly about QPR job being a poisoned challis. When you think of the number of manager we have had it would appear so. However, whilst there have been some very dodgy appointments in the past, surely it is down to owners not having a clue and thinking that we are a massive club rather than the size we are? Rangers always used to develop young players whether through the youth system or buy from non league an hope to turn into a gem, thinking of Ferdinand, Darren Peacock, Andy Sinton, Impey, Dawes, Warren Neill, Peter Hucker…...Kevin Gallen......but later managers have tried to buy players already tried and tested. hughes, jam rolly polly / dodgy knees etc to name but a few, Maybe we need owners to come in, accept QPR to be the size of club it is - in my eyes similar to many others - Norwich, Leicester, Wolves....and hope that we can at times have a good cup run (McLaren has set a stall) and employ a manager that they will give time to sort out the mess that is currently there. We have had multi million pound owners that don't want to invest in the infrastructure.....think of the 5 year plan......maybe that should have been 50 year plan. I feel sorry for McLaren - never thought I would write this down but maybe he would have been better staying as a coach but if he had lost the dressing room then it is better he went.
are we really going to employ some that “I don’t read books. I read the Daily Express and The Star.” I thought the star was full of pictures!!
Out of interest, who would have Ollie and Birch back in place if you could click a button and make it so right now?
No, they were ****. I seriously dislike Warnock, but at least he got/gets results at this level, I can understand the nostalgia for him.
Not me. I love Ollie but don’t understand why he does the things that he does. Odd selections, odd tactics, odd outbursts, odd chap. Would be an odd appointment.
Forgot the clincher. He played for Norwich. Also I seem to remember that he failed a UEFA coaching course - on which his mate Ramsey was an assessor. Apologies to him if this is untrue.
When you see an unfashionable team like Wolves and how they’ve created a team with a quality manager. The whole approach has been planned and meticulously executed. It makes me realise our big problem is Les Ferdinand. Zero progress in the time he’s been there in fact we are going backwards and downwards. I’d say it’s time for some fresh thinking and he and his mates should all make way. The thought of him bringing in another of his mates and screwing things up even further is a real threat and shows he’s putting himself before the club.
On Facebook.... Sherwood is at Wembley and was asked if he was taking the QPR job...he said no as he doesn't like the owners. Lucky escape or has he got good taste? Sent from my STF-L09 using Tapatalk
Ferdinand was brought in to put a stop to the Redknapp money-splurging old pals act, and was instrumental in bringing on 'Arry's short-lived knee damage. He deserves a statue just for that in my opinion. Since then it's been his thankless task to move out players on overblown contracts and ensure that subsequent managers kept to the new financial strictures. From what we read, he hasn't been responsible for managerial appointments, these having been decided by the owners. Our recent difficulties have been caused by the pre-Ferdinand (and Hoos) profligacy and resulting FFP sanctions. True, we have made zero progress, but just staying up in these circumstances should be judged as success. I've seen some on here describe the current squad as being our 'worst ever'. This is ridiculous in my opinion. This group of players is good enough for mid-table, but they have been poorly organised and motivated.
With Colin's Managerial CV compared to not only Ramsey but any Football Manager I can think of, that comment says more about EUFA coaching courses. If true of course.
No it doesn’t. Guardiola, Klopp etc etc all have the top level coaching qualifications and have all done better than Warnock. Your comment says everything about your obsession with Warnock though, you want a bit of therapy for that Jock. I notice that he is now relying on other teams losing to avoid extending his record of always being relegated from the PL at the first attempt.
No real chance they will look abroad really so based on that I think it’s time to think outside the box and offer the job to an animal Maybe a ferret or even a badger It would make interviews very interesting and we could have a Johnny Morris type voice over to translate ? I know it’s a stupid suggestion How about a glove puppet ?
If you say so, but have they got more Promotions than Colin? Whatever, Colinitus is the disease I choose when trying to be Brexit friendly.
