    Ahh yeh I forgot, you're on the coast. Yachting must be a great buzz for him, only time I've done anything like that with the kids is abroad. I don't know what you mean by chopper mate (I think this thread is a fcking jinx)?

    I've done an escape room recently, a couple of times with my kids. One in Livpl and one in Manc, both were far more fun than I imagined. Otherwise I make them cook <laugh>

    Enjoy mate, I hope you have a good time with him Sky <ok>

    I own three kayaks... You can come over visit me this weekend. Great kayaking spots around me. Plenty of storage room in my largest kayak to store stuff for weekend kayak camping.

    I love kayaking, and most water sports :wink:

    The inflatable Kayak is so good, no different to a normal one. 2 man thing as well, I love it. It's a K2 Explorer, well worth buying if you live by the sea or even by a lake or river.

    This is the exact one - good price at the moment

    <yikes>

    I wouldn't risk a K2 on the sea TBH. There are some sea eagle ones that are probably a little safer for the ocean. I read one guys report of doing the entire length of the missippi in a sea eagle.

    They're nice... But there is a noticable difference between inflatables and rigid shell kayaks. You'll never pick up the same speed in an inflatable, nor track as well. Really though its all about fun... You can have plenty of fun with an inflatable. Ask @Bodinki

    One of my kayaks is a cheapo 10' Pelican. $200 but still a lot of fun to take out. I'd only take my 14' into the ocean though... Really should be longer than that for ocean use.

    I've been out to sea in it loads of times and no issues at all. I'm not really after speed, I mainly sail from pub to pub then back.

    I've been a few times and loved it. Love all watersports I've tried although probably limited. I've done a couple of small motor boats, jetski, kayak, just the usual tbh.

    No fcking chance you take that out to sea though?

    Yeah, inflatables at least you don't have to worry about storage or transport.

    I drive a cheapo tiny Honda Fit. It's amusing when I've got my 14' and 12' kayaks strapped to the roof and the kayaks are longer than the car.

    I'm in South Carolina. Sea is about 1.5hr drive from me, we have a fantastic coast line and some barrier islands along the coast which makes kayaking in the intercoastal waterway a bit safer than the open ocean.

    I usually head out on rivers or lakes though. We've got lots of nice waterways. I Havent been out this year yet though because I've thrown my back out twice and waiting to recover before risking being stuck in the middle of a lake with a thrown out back.

    I always go out to sea in it, that's why I bought it. Not taken it anywhere else over than the sea. It's remarkably steady, it's far better than you're probably imagining. My boy loves it too, we both go out ****ing far in it. Got a set of life jackets so all good.

    Yeah, I wouldn't trust it in that. It's not just currents it is wind. That particular kayak sits fairly high off the water and a strong off shore wind could easily carry you out to sea faster than you could paddle it back.
