Can I pass on a plea to ‘ITV Racing’. Before, during and after the 4.40 heat at Aintree, tomorrow, there is no need for you to tell us every few seconds why the racehorse CHAMP is supposedly called Champ. Also, there is no need for Luke Harvey to act astonished, amazed, transfixed and unbelievably fascinated every single time someone says it. Rant over…continue.
One that I’ve been raving about for 6 months, for a particular race, runs tomorrow and am most looking forward to seeing him in action. As my regular readers will be aware I am, of course, talking about KILCREA VALE in the ‘Topham’ (4.05). The old boy has twice ran over the Grand National fences before and ran with great credit both times – finishing 4th in this heat in ’18 off 135 (was hampered at a crucial stage as well) and then 3rd in the Grand Sefton, beaten just 2.25 lengths, also off 135. His other efforts this past 12 months have been much less inspiring but they were somewhat ‘nudge, nudge, wink, wink’ so as to keep his perch down to that sort of level for another crack at the big ‘uns – something The Lieutenant has done to perfection as, of the morrow, Kilcrea Vale goes off, in effect, 136 (132 plus is 4 lbs out of the handicap). Lieutenant Henderson may have more fancied animals in the market, team, but Kilcrea Vale is the one that you want to be on. And I’d recommend a decent, and I do mean decent, each-way wager. His regular rider old boy Jerry McGrath takes the ride. Meanwhile, the stable also know how to win this race having won 3 out of the last 6 renewals. In other races at Aintree I would expect the classy pair of TOPOFTHEGAME (2.50) and CHAMP (4.40) to both oblige. Both have won Grade 1’s already this term and should do so again tomorrow. Meanwhile, in the lucky last at Wolverhampton (8.00) keep an eye out for RHOSSILI DOWN. This daughter of Kingman’s debut run, last term, was most promising and hinted at her being very useful as she got within 2 lengths of Mr Charlton’s Fashion’s Star (who could be a superstar, this season, team). I’d be prepared to ignore Rhossili Down’s final run as a 2YO as it was on unseasonably fast ground and probably came a bit too soon after her initial outing. She should be competing at Listed/Group level later in the campaign and unless the reincarnation of Pegasus describes one of the unraced sorts in tomorrow’s novice event then Rhossili Down really should win of the morrow. Good luck all and let’s hope the dear old ‘Liverpool Lovelies’, God bless them and save them, enjoy their day at the races.
Interesting that Santa Rossa sidestepped the mares bumper today and instead goes for the one against the boys and imo this looks the easier option - she is my best bet tomorrow
Morning 2.50 Aintree...without Topofthegame- Chris's Dream Each Way @ 9-2 [Bet 365] 1/4 12 To continue great season for de Bromhead and Blackmore
Dreadful punting day yesterday for me with most out the back of the tele by the home straight . At Aintree today I reckon the chubby Somerset lad will have decent day so done a multiple or two around his runners excluding the Topham. Good luck all.
Sadly working today so wont be able to watch or have a bet but hopefully a good days racing ahead and a better day weatherwise for those going..
The first race I've most definitely gone with my heart over my head. Vaughan and Johns have been good to my wallet, so I'm backing this no hope looking horse out of blind faith. Thanks for the tip @Sir Barney Chuckles Felix Desjy is a free ITV4 bet after winning on Moon over Germany. Lucky 15 should be there or thereabouts. Yesterday was a good day Good luck for today guys. Nnnneeeeeeiiiiiiiigggggghhhhhh
I forgot to say good luck Top Ville Ben who goes in the Mildmay novice chase. Has an each way squeak and is a full brother to the horse I have a small interest in.
Good day yesterday(but felt more like December than April). 3 winners, the last was a superb result for my beer fund in town. Couple for me today. 3.25 Min 4.05 Kilcrea Vale (cheers Chuckles) Good luck all. Keep warm those that are going
