    It's a shame that they couldn't balance it out by saying that Daniel Levy honoured his offer to Archway Steel, even after they were to receive much less as a compulsory purchase and that Archway subsequently made the time capsule the club placed on site.

    This article amounts to "Making an omelette involves breaking eggs- Shocker". Very poor journalism.

    I watched both yesterday.

    BBC national had a little dig with the alleged "1 bn" cost + delay in opening.

    BBC London tried a hit on alleged gentrification, and failed
    (obviously have never been more than 100m in all directions from new
    WHL - must be some Guardianista guilt projection on their part) .

    The academy signed him ages ago, because there was something there.
    The Goons had him, and RELEASED him.

    The kid I saw several times in the U23 'class of 2012-13' .
    The kid with a ferocious shot. The kid that was not fast nor muscular
    like Obika (remember him ?? ) , but was evidently intelligent in his play
    (linking with MF) , and put in a shift for the team.

    All strengths remained. All weaknesses reduced or removed.

    Luck had nothing to do with it.

    The BBC clearly have problems with their facts or can't do a simple month count...

    BBC-Hit-Piece.jpg

    But to sensationalise, it reads far better to say "....almost a year" than just be honest and say just over 6 months of delays. Tossers.

    Absolutely.

    HK got a chance because we...

    concentrate on recruiting local youngsters not scouting worldwide;
    employ top people like John McDermott who know about young players;
    spend real time, effort and money on improving them;
    are committed to giving them game time - look at Andros, Bentaleb, Ryan, Winksy, Pritchard, etc.;
    specifically recruited managers who would play and improve them - Sherwood, MP.

    Lucky? I don't think so. They're not all Harry Kane but it's an impressive return given we're not buying children from around the world, like some washed-up pop star

    Last night's BBC News used the £1bn lie in the headlines, but for the segment said "almost £1bn" - because apparently £150m is small change to some people...

    I have no doubts that the Academy have at least hit "break even"
    on the class of 2012-13 (probably made a decent profit) .

    Those that are not still with us, some did make a material contribution
    to the cause (Mason etc). A few were terribly unlucky with injuries
    (Mason) , but many failed in their mental application and not
    their technical ability. That those have not risen to the very top elsewhere
    has similarly vindicated the club regime.

    Cheap journalism of the highest degree
    Talks about White Hart Lane tube station-Where is that?
    The first interviewee is actually critisizing the council and not THFC
    I got bored to read further

    Established first teamers: Kane
    Made a contribution before being moved on: Mason, Townsend, while arguments can be made for Carroll and Caulker
    Made a tidy sum: Smith, Pritchard, Fredericks, Luongo, Button, Obika,

    There's always an element of luck...Sherwood gave him his chance...would someone like Mourinho?

    Luck is always involved...it's not only involved when Liverpool score

    Nowhere near to the level you appear to be suggesting.

    So yeah...

    A little under four years ago I started this thread when the stadium was little more than a series of sketches that could be viewed on Haringey Council's website, in fact here's the sketch used in the very first post of this topic

    please log in to view this image

    Not only were we awaiting approval to go ahead so we could begin the build, but we were having to put up with the sociopathic levels of stubbornness from the NIMBY at Archway **** Metal who seemed determined to keep us playing at White Hart Lane until that fateful night where somebody forgot to turn off a lathe and that biggest, most stubborn obstacle was removed and we could begin at long last

    Four years later, look where we are now: we're preparing to have our first match there, in a stadium which looks like this

    please log in to view this image

    It's not been easy, with six months worth of delays and years of misinformation in the press about overruns, going over budget and what the budget actually is, but the stadium's ready for its opening match, and at the same time Wembley is a place we can actually be enthusiastic at playing at again instead of a place we grew to actively loathe and couldn't wait to get the hell out of the soulless bowl during our eighteen months there

    To dare is to do, and with this stadium we're certainly daring

    Bravo to you HBIC it has been quite a journey <applause>

    Just browsed through the first page of the thread and noted the following items which at that time were mere rumours:

    - NFL franchise
    - Capacity above 60k
    - First of its kind retractable pitch
    - The need to sell Adebayor and Kaboul in order to finance the stadium.

    ...and all 4 rumours have come to pass. Kudos to you, Daniel.

    On my way home. Brilliant night. I tried out the Galvin restaurant and it was excellent. A couple sat down at the next table and I thought the man looked a bit familiar. Turned out to be Keith Burkinshaw....

    I assume that NFL and Sarries official observers will have been in attendance
    for both the game yesterday, and the CL game against Citeh.

    No doubt the spectator experience reports will be heading to respective
    HQs with the summary being : excellent.
