3 pts and a clean sheet - new players get their first game under their belts with a win

    I'll take that <ok>

I think we'll get better. We've just got over losing Cesc and Nasri - Wenger admitted that the window was a massively stressful time for him and thus the club, this on the back of a terrible start to the season.
We're adjusting to having new players in the team too, and given time they will gel.
All things considered, I think we should be happy with a win <ok>

In the last seven years, we've seen a near transformation of finances in football. Since Roman arrived (I know that was more than seven years ago) the idea of spending untold millions on buying success has become the norm for some and the aspirations of others, apart from ourselves.

I think things will balance out again. FFP will put an end to the obscene amounts of cash being thrown at the wall in a 'let's see what sticks' approach from the likes of City.

We might have to wait 2-3 seasons to be back on a par, but I think it will come.

    Im not impressed at all.

We win 1-0 at home with the only goal we managed to score was given to us by their goalies error.

Man Utd go AWAY and win 5 - 0

we are still not creating a damn thing in the final 3rd.

If i see that useless fairy boy walcott shoot wide one more time im gonna ...............well i dont know what i will do.

Beam me up scotty .. we are that bad.

only ray of sunshine today was Benayoun... finally a player who wants to get the ball to the box without taking 50 passes to get there.

" i know ... ill RUN with the ball to the box. "

what a revelation for the passers brigade.

pass pass pass pass lose it.......pass pass pass pass lose it.......pass pass pass pass lose it.......pass pass pass pass lose it.......pass pass pass pass lose it.......pass pass pass pass lose it.......

situation normal ....new season .. same sh1t .

I think the FFP panel have agreed to investigate the Etihad sponsorship deal.
The outcome of that investigation will determine whether they have any backbone.
It's quite simple really, if the deal doesn't represent fair market economics, then the panel have to impose sanctions on City.
We'll wait and see what they do.....

Did Everton not make top 4 with him in the team? Oh yeah they did. This was his first game for us and he looked good and will only get better. Liverpool and Spurs are the competition and we have a very good chance to make the top 4.

To say Arteta is ****e is just imbecilic really.
How do you expect any of your opinions to be taken seriously given a comment like that?

Apparently they think they only have to breath on us in order to win the game. hmm. :/

  14. We were far from the best that we have shown in the past but it is a new beginning and the new players need time to settle in and learn to find their best form. So I too will take a 1-0 win. In fact I'll take 33 One-Nil victories since a win is a win. However on the form shown today there is still a lot to do

    1. The defence still needs work. I thought both Mertesacker and Santos had good debuts but we have been caught short today and were very fortunate to take all three points against a debutant EPL side.

    2. Creativity in midfield was lacking but will come as Arteta settles in. I thought he was good in the first half. More depth in the squad will be needed come January.

    3. Our frontline has not been very impressive throughout most of the pre season and certainly thus far, with the exception of Udinese Part 2 when it was a case of life or death. They need to be sharper and raise their conversion rate. Too many chances are either wasted or not taken. I hope too that Arsene will adopt changes in tactics when needed though this is something he seems reluctant to do thus far. Playing RvP in a free role is something he should try out and Walcott is a striker. He was purchased as a striker so he should be played as a striker. With Miyaichi, Park, Gervinho and Wilshere fighting fit, we will be in better shape through to January when hopefully Arsene will be active in the market.

Buying may turn out to be another matter. I read somewhere today that Arsene was almost not going to bolster our defence until TV was injured. Certainly leaving everything to the last minute and if it is to be believed, placing low bids hardly makes for plausible credentials of someone who has their heart set on buying. Members here have also said that Arsene buys who he likes as opposed to who he needs. This too must stop. The man has done well by us. In all honesty how many managers could have got us into the Top 4 on the budget that he has or indeed hasn't, over the past five years or so? However this year is crucial. On today's form I really don't think we will beat Liverpool to 4th place. And that's another thing and something which we have discussed often of late. There was a time we were challenging for the crown. Now we speak of 4th place as an achievement. I really cannot bear the thought of even a season, let alone two or three in the Europa League

if we dont sort out our

    1. Lack of pace and urgency.

    2. Finishing accuracy. ( im talking about you Walcott ! )

we wont have to even worry about the europa league.

we will do a "Liverpool last season "

and thats not scaremongering.. i m deadly serious. .

In 4 games Man Utd have scored 18 goal
Man City have scored 15 goals

    Arsenal have managed just 3

City and Utd are not really comparable to Arsenal this season...I still think we'll be in the mix for 3rd and 4th places.

    Santos didn't play

  18. Yes you're right. I have Santos fever <laugh>

Why am I think of Santos? I thought Gibbs had a good game while on the offensive although I was expecting him not to last.

  19. That's very optimistic Piskie.

We still have Chelsea remember and while Pool lost today I think they currently have the edge on us. It's not insurmountable but we need to make every game count. The squad need to gel together very soon and Arsene must be prepared to play outside of his comfort zone. He seems to only know of the beautiful passing game approach. The players need to know how to go out there and grind out a victory. I'll bet United's youngsters know that. Ours should too especially now that we have some seasoned players on board.

1.Walcott, Oxo, Ryo, gervinho, etc etc can all shift with our players back and abit on confidence etc we'll be alright

    2. We could win every game 1-0, and united/city could win the first 5 games 30-0 then lose every other game, which would you prefer..
