That, and I think he was just playing for the enjoyment, rather than for the end product. SAF has made him into a more effective, but probably less flashy, player. Instead of going on the long solo run and scoring a wonder goal, he's now more likely to create a simpler but more certain goal for another player. In fact, I think he has the third highest number of assists (behind Fabregas and Lampard) in the PL over the seven seasons since he joined Utd <ok>

I doubt he'd have ended up as good if he'd joined Newcastle. Playing in the CL every season against the best defenders and teams in the world would have made a difference even if the coaching and experienced players at Utd didn't.

Firstly agreed top 4 in the world in my opinion.

    Messi/ronaldo

    Xavi
    rooney
    inesta

And i doubt he;d be as good without fergie as he is with, and you guys would have sold him anywayz to be honest.

I think he would still be world class. We had a really good side then and Sir Bobby may not have got sacked as Rooney might have helped us have a good start to the season.

Who knows where we could have ended up. He has natural ability and would still have been brilliant.

I do agree that he wouldn't be here anymore though.

He's **** though isn't he? Not a natrural finsher and in no way a centre forwatrd.

Suarez is world class, Rooney is average. There can be no debate.

Wayne Rooney is really fired up at the moment, smashing them in for fun and really taking it to the Premier League.

Last season he started off with a few problems but its times like this where everyone can admire his abilities.

Well done for Rooney and Hernandez today, aswell as United as a team <ok>

Bolton were the unlucky team today, who's next?

he would have been like the zog. Talent visible but ultimately wasted. Rooney needed a heavy hand and lots of guidance to become a pro footballer. That's something we never managed to do , constantly changing managers. Imagine rooney vs joe kinnear. Get out.

But when you signed him we were playing in Europe. Then having Rooney and Shearer up front, we possibly would have progressed and ended up in the Champions League again.

Great form so far this season, which is great as otherwise my fantasy football team would be doing ****! Hes a great striker but the way he comes back and defends really impresses me! Wouldn't get Lovenkrands doing that!

If you want a laugh go on the Liverpool thread to find out who the '5th best player in the world is' I put forward Rooney and was laughed at as they believe he is too inconsistant. They somehow managed to place Suarez above him.

    Wouldn't know why?

  18. In my opinion, if he keeps this form up, he should be named the 3rd best player in the world after Messi and Ronaldo.

Xavi and Ineista pass better than anyone, but Messi, Ronaldo and Rooney are all better overall players IMO <ok>

  20. This is how he plays normally, he just hit a bad patch for half a season. He still managed 10 goals and 10 assists in half a season when he came back <ok>
