DH it was a bitter feeling and you could see it coming as the crosses came in. We all hate that Spurs don't seem able to deal with that kind of attack. It's how we lose most of our games BUT let's not lose sight of the football and why we love the game.
I watch to enjoy too but nothing is beyond criticism and debate gives this place life. Unfortunately not everyone shares Levy's thoughts 100% I want the 3 points I don't want to see the gaps in our team due to mismanagement of the on field progress...it gets on my nerves. Especially when people try to make out as it's just the stadium that is hindering our transfer activity when like I have said umpteen times it's Levy's mentality aswell with our only spending spree coming after a record sale. I don't believe we will go bankrupt if Levy/ENIC showed ambition for the team...you know what I mean? Like a Billionaire owner should spend some money...instead of trying to turn us into Harrods with lots of bells and whistles whilst totally ignoring the upward trajectory taking place with our team. Football is a different animal to other businesses...people wanting to buy clubs need to be aware of that too. Levy has done wonders creating a Billion pound asset...it's not going to change his mentality and therefore it's not going to change our mediocrity either. He needs to thank his lucky stars we found a few gems...no ambition for players on his part though. So how many years do you think Spurf? before we start to look remotely interested in taking the football side of THFC seriously?
Welcome to English football mate. I'm disgusted at how much I'm having to pay for a season ticket and mine's one of the cheapest at Spurs at £995. My Cousin who got his ST later than me is paying £1200 as they were some of the only ones remaining by the time his phase bracket were able to buy. Clubs don't treat fans as fans, they treat us as customers and they know they can exploit our support. If Spurs decide to raise my ST any more in the near future, I'm going to seriously consider packing it all in.
I’m fed up with being plucky little triers who always fall short when it really matters. Winning is an attitude as much as anything. So is losing.
Yup .disgustingly expensive and the exploitation that goes on. Why its going to get to a point fans will vote with their feet and stop going whether that be cost or patience.
We were dealing with it. Our brain fart of a goalkeeper decided he'd gift Pool the win though. There were five shots on target for the whole game, three for Pool two for us. A poor game of football that was made worse by our error-prone goalkeeper gifting the victory.
Spurlock I think they are taking the football side seriously. Look at the investment in training and stadium. Now you will say what about the investment in the team and that is most important for the business of THFC because that is their product. I would expect serious investment this summer. They know they have to and having this stadium will tell them every day that they need to produce a team worthy of it. Just remember that investig in players as well as being the most important business activity THFC do it's also the most difficult. The infrastructure is there now it's not going away or seriously declining for many many years you can't say the same about players. The risk factor is always high and a man like Levy is always trying to reduce the odds on buying a Wanyama or a Paulinhio and I know the two players had different reasons for becoming liabilities. Remember Bent he cost a relative fortune 16 million and we have many of those total failed signings.
Unfortunately, like most areas in life including work and being a customer, loyalty is not appreciated or rewarded. I don't wanna sound bitter cos I suspect many others have more loyalty points than my family (I have 295 and my girls 208) so we would not have got a ticket for the palace game but with a little thought the club could have done the first 3 home games on loyalty points for the members tickets and rotated so once you got tickets you were excluded to give others a first chance...but to make it that people who bought a half price mid season membership have the same chance as those who have been members for 13 years (in my kid's case) and who have been to all but 2 matches at wembly this season is a bit **** to say the least. But...it is the shape of things to come. We have decided that if it continues to be like this that we'll be going to see the under 18s, 23s and women's team and will not be the suckers that the club turn to when the plastics do fancy watching us play god knows who in the EL or early rounds of the league cup. Like I said, I have no issue with not being lucky enough to get a ticket but if the club make it like the fans with money are all that matter they run the risk of being like the Emirates...sterile, moody and souless
They did not look secure to me and Lloris does not seem to take command of his area like a top keeper should. Goalkeepers are so protected in the modern game there can be no excuse for them not going aggressively to take hold of the ball. Lloris too often is just flapping with a hand he is not convincing at all. He has always been vulnerable to near post as well. I don't get how he is rated so highly. Perhaps I don't understand the modern game.
As i mentioned on the goons board earlier, the early signs viz. the new stadium certainly more positive than they were in the build up to their Emirates move. From as early as 2001 they started selling big names, from 2002 employed top accountants to help them lower their wage bill year on year, from 2003 stopped spending big money (Reyes was the last big name signing before the move iirc), in 2004 announced that the stadium opening would be delayed by a year due to lack of capital, in 2005 launched a season ticket bond scheme that saw wealthy fans pay anything between 3-5k for a bond that would help raise said capital, and in 2006 finally moved in to the Library. Compare and contrast that story to our own and the difference is clear: since launching the Northumberland project we have broken our transfer record 4 times, wage ceiling has increased year on year, the only delays to the opening were technical, and there have been no emergency whip-arounds from fans.
I agree RE Lloris. I just wish our manager sees what we see. As I mentioned in a previous post, any other top manager would've dropped him by now. This has been by far the most frustrating season under Pochettino, he's making the same managerial mistakes, he chose not to strengthen and he persists with players who are becoming/ have become a liability. We need the Pochettino that came in in 14/15 and dropped the likes of Kaboul, Adebayor, Capoue, Soldado, Paulinho etc to do the same with some of these players.
I think Pochettino would agree with you in many ways it has been a very difficult season for him, easily the most difficult since he has been with us. I have confidence in the guy because he is extremely intelligent and will have learnt much from this season. When he first came they were not his players these now are his players and that makes it more difficult for him in his choices. He knows better than us the weaknesses in this team that need filling. I will be amazed if he does not set about this in the summer.
I honestly think sometimes they don't know better because they become blinded by their own pig headedness...we are fans and we always want what's best for the team. Managers become embroiled in their own visions. Are you telling me we all knew more than Mourinho at United? Yet we all knew he was stifling them. Wenger is another example of someone who started to go blind but the fans could see.
The official celebrating turns out to be the guy who gives Mike Dean and his colleagues a hand job after the match
I'll be damned if anyone says Sissoko knows more than me about suceeding in a 2 on 1 situation with glory in sight. I would have had enough savvy in me to make VVD look like a fool whilst putting it on a plate for Son. Who I also think showed a lack of intelligence. Had he checked his run by a step or two...that would have helped Sissoko make a decision...instead they both ran head down parallel to each other thus reducing angles for themselves whilst getting out thought by 1 man.
It's easier when you are not doing the running. The last time I ever played football I ran down the left wing as I did of old but when I got there I was too knackered to put the ball in the middle
I miss playing Sunday league football I remember once I misplaced a pass to a teammate and he shouted 'you can't pass for ****' so I picked the ball up and whacked it at his head from point blank range. That cost me 7 quid for the yellow card
