He still has moments in him though. I think ederson last year was incredible. This year he’s had a few bad moments similar to Allison though. Certainly a huge step up on previous. Ironicslly he has looked a bit a bit shaky with the ball at his feet at times. Obviously the Leicester error but even today was one where was bouncing out on touchline and he sliced it out for a throw.
I would say (tbf i havent watched much of city) allisons got a few more clangers in him than ederson. Without going into the ones that have led to goals (think i read 3 somewhere although i can only thing of the Leicester one and united one) hes gotten away with it today (when he headed it onto milner), arsenal twice at the emirates (both to mkhi who f'ed up) and against burnley?
the thing on alisson. name one cross he's dropped, one shot he has spilled? that's the issue... on the basics he is rock solid. If his manager wants him to play out from the back them like the defenders he's going to get closed down... simple as. at some point he will get caught during a season and the blame as klopp says is klopps.
You’re right about being shaky on the ball occasionally but what I love is that he will still attempt the same risky pass a few mins later. His passing is still brilliant though so we have to take the rough with the smooth.
Very good shot stopper although he has a tendency is parry the ball back into the danger area (not sure if its his fault sometimes as they are generally from close up). The only time i recall him spilling was a united shot which i think they scored from but generally i would say hes better than most (although hes flapped at a few crosses). Hes more commanding at crosses than ederson though
But he's never spilled one you've seen. Like the save yesterday. robertson blocked the follow up but theres no way a save like that can be called spilled
The league table makes fascinating reading at the moment for all sorts of reasons. That battle for 3rd and 4th is so tight.
I find it difficult to rank the top few keepers in the league. Alisson for me is one of if not the best at closing down a striker in a one on one situation. Seem him do it countless times this season. He does make a mistake yes, but it doesn't seem to bother him like Mignolet and Karius, he just gets on with it and clears it first time. He is also very good from crosses (when not getting fouled) Ederson is the best keeper when on the ball out there currently De Gea, not at his best, but when he is the shot stopping reactionary saves are top notch. I personally think Ederson is the overall best, but Alisson is better at some aspects
