They have a higher profile manager that's why. There's something about Poch that just doesn't sit right with me.
Yeah but CIES says he's the best so it's all good. Those mistakes don't really count, just illusions.
You and jenas are twins mate. Hes banging on about how gazza should be given a chance and also how lloris has been poor for a couple of seasons
Don't watch MOTD when we lose but I've often thought Jenas talks a lot of sense most of the time, I make him bang on regarding this if he's said that. We've got a 32 year old keeper whose clangers are becoming more and more frequent and noticeable and a 27 year old keeper who's yet to make a single mistake, won four MOTM awards this season (plus one on his debut last season, so five MOTMs in eleven games for Spurs) and has even contributed towards some forward play in games as his distribution is superb... How he hasn't been given a solid run by now I'll never know. Genuinely bemused, confused, dumbfounded and whatever else can go in that sort of sentence.
I agree that Gazza should be given a run but disagree that it will solve anything. The absolute core of our failings is the lack of midfield control. 2 years ago with Wanyama and Dembele opposition teams couldn't lay a glove on us. We quite literally won back possesion and broke down attacks at will. After our equaliser today we were crying out for someone to just put their foot on the ball and take the pace out of the game. We came under relentless pressure, conceding half a dozen corners in the space of about 10 mins. Yes we could and should have picked them off on the break but my point is we can play Gazza in goal we will still come under the same relentless pressure whenever we play against a team who can outrun or out-pass Sissoko and Winks.
That miss by Sissoko makes me shudder 10 losses in the league this season...someone has alot to answer for once you remove the smokes n mirrors of the apologists
Aa lot of Liverpool’s attack involved the fullbacks. The same full backs who were unable to play for their national teams because they were’ injured’. Perhaps there should be a rule that players that pull out of international squads cannot play in the next club match.
I know he has his critics on here but for me today also highlighted how we can miss Winks. Alli is wasted playing in the deeper role. With lucas not particularly adept at creating chances and Eriksen apparently strolling his way to Madrid, it really did fall to Dele to create everything which he struggled to do from his position. As a consequence Kane kept dropping deep to start moves and as a result had no shots all game.
Don’t often agree with Duncan Castles but I think he’s spot on here. “Pochettino, meanwhile, has himself to blame for placing Tottenham’s Champions League place at risk. Back five with narrow midfield an awful tactical choice against opponents with near zero midfield creativity. As soon as Tottenham changed to back four control was theirs.”
Just shows how hard times are for us when we miss a player like Winks. FWIW I agree but it just shows the sheer desperation levels we’re at when it comes to CM.
Tough really. Kane can take 10 shots at goal and score one goal . A goalie can make 20 saves but make one mistake and it costs the game. Who'd be a goalie?
This, and the drop in quality/performance of our fullbacks/wingbacks, IMO. The lack of control in midfield not only stops our creative free flowing attacking play (which we’ve barely seen all season), but it also invites pressure onto our defence. The lack of danger presented by our full back options in an attacking sense also contributes to this, as they aren’t stretching the play to aid the creativity centrally, so our attacks become slow and ponderous. - and the fact that they’ve also not be up to scratch defensively either, inviting more pressure and problems. These 2 factors put together is why we’ve been a poor side to watch from an attacking point of view, and been prone to errors defensively, IMO, even without the Lloris clangers on top.
18 points worth of luck and dodgy decisions. Or is it that we've lost 1 and you've lost 10? Asking for a friend.
Yes. I wouldn't analyse your results too carefully if I were you as it might add up to more than that.
I am not a ****ing apologist I am a ****ing supporter. I may as well dismiss everything most others have said here as coming from whingers and not proper supporters. I can take most of the crap here from people who have conveniently forgotten how much we've improved in recent years, but I remember standing on the pitch singing "we'll support you for ever more" after the match where we got relegated. So don't call me an apologist and get some perspective.
