Only that it was locked off for East and West standers after the match Lots of anger and disappointment. I blagged my way through but I was the only one. Very poorly handled.
I was told that numbers were being limited as this was a test event and once the certificates have been granted there won't be the same problems. We'll see but more numbers aren't going to help. Lots of people won't come back if it isn't put right for the next afternoon kick off.
The South Stand looked pretty full so I doubt it'll be much worse on a normal match day. The East stand lower and North Stand lower away area were pretty empty.
What was the sound like, it didn't sound that good on Spurs TV, but obviously that can be mixed down so you can hear the commentator.
My youngest sister was in the West Stand. After the game, she and her hubby were denied access into the South Stand and told that there were no bars open in the whole of the ground and she would have to leave. At least I was told I could drink in the East on floors 2 and 5 before charming my way into the South Stand and the good humoured mayhem taking place there. I was told by a couple of very good staff that there are a fair few who have no ****ing idea what they're doing. That needs to change pretty sharpish. People paying top dollar for something won't wear being given really bad service. I was told that I needed a security sticker for a sealed club shop bag, which is complete nonsesnse but let it pass. The food was great - good quality, hot and very tasty. Getting a drink in less than 20 minutes ain't easy unless you locate a quiet bar. We found a Tap Inn with almost no queue at all on the second floor of the South Stand. Iron out the niggles and it's going to be a stunning new home.
Another great day at the stadium, not read previous comments but I'm presuming most who didn't get the chance to go watched it on Spurs TV so I won't say much about the game (other than it being great!). Was amazing to see some of the old faces, when Gazza walked out it was incredible. Gotta say what an absolute class act Javier Zanetti is, clearly not only just one of the best defenders of all time but also a top bloke, after all the Inter players went to applaud their fans at the opposite end of the stadium (North East corner), he then brought a good handful of players all the way back to salute us in the South Stand and then even went over to a couple people in the West Stand to sign some autographs. It was a really nice touch, the Inter players appreciated the reception they got from the whole stadium and they showed their class with that nice gesture. Was a pleasure to watch so many legends - from both teams - have a good game of football. Few of the pics I took: Daviiiiiiiid: Keano giving us a wave: After Berba's header:
I sit in the South, mate, so thankfully I won't ever have trouble with regards to the Marketplace I think the problem is that many people after the game are gonna want to be going to the Goal Line Bar, it was rammed last week, rammed today and when we're at full capacity it'll be no different. Whilst Spurs have said you can access pretty much all of the stadium, I think there needs to be a sense of realism in that if it's already going to be rammed full of the South Standers after the final whistle (and maybe some close-by East and West standers who can get there quickly) then it can't really accommodate people from elsewhere. I know I'm probably sounding selfish by saying that but I'm not sure the club can do much about it, like many venues there's often a capacity limit and I presume the same applies here(?).
My seat is in the North, so I'm going to have to get there early me thinks. After match is a no-no. Shame I was hoping for a sing song after, but the thought of potentially standing in the south stand, is no longer an option because of gout.
It seems that pre-match, south stand facilities are practical. Post-match, and you will have to accept using the facilities in your/other stands instead. That is sensible, and why you want decent facilities distributed reasonably around the stadium (sorry if you have mates with seats in the south stand when you do not etc) .
I think that if the South Stand is going to be a no-go for ticket holders from other areas of the ground, then a fair percentage people will use the bars in the East Stand. However, this really wasn't made clear in advance and the employees manning the barricades weren't expecting it, had little idea what was going on and most didn't deal with it particularly well. The South Stand area was sold as THE place to be post-game and whether specifically stated or by implication, a lot of people (myself included) thought that there was free movement within the stadium, for that to be shown not to be the case and pretty bluntly at that, wasn't a great start. If you tell people well in advance, there's unlikely to be a problem but springing it on people last minute is a recipe to upset your customer base. I'll happily have a beer in the East Stand but without free movement, it will be without certain friends and family, which is a shame. If numbers preclude it as a possibility, then that's fair enough.
WHL station needs sorting out soon with the increased capacity coming for future game, we had a couple of beers at the stadium to let the crowd die down but when we got to the station the queues were still very long , tried to join the line for the northbound platform only to be sent to the back of one that served both north and southbound which tailed back round the estate, with the extra 15'000 coming for the next games this needs sorting quickly
This is the whole point of having as many people as possible hanging around the stadium for an hour or two after the game, to smooth the flow of people out. If it is like you say, many will leave 10 minutes early in order to miss the queues.
I accidentally found a new route out. I was in the East stand so walked around the north of Sainsburys and ended up on the North side of White Hart Lane. I didn't like the look of the queues so decided to continue walking towards the A10. The road was very busy and I caught up with a W3 bus at a stop just before the A10. I jumped on that and the traffic disappeared as it crossed the A10. It took me to Wood Green where I took the Piccadilly line. Took me exactly an hour from the ground to Marylebone station.
The Premium area in the East stand was very impressive. I tried one of the upgrade restaurants which was lovely. They did run out of one of the main courses. The lower East Stand area was quite empty and I tried the included food which was much better than Wembley. Half time drink is included and that worked well. The only issue I could see was no soap in the toilets
He was in great shape, too. Looked like he could still play now, despite being 45 and having played over 1,100 games.
They tried to separate the crowds going north and south as far back as the High road but at some point it failed that is where the confusion happened ,stewards giving out conflicting instructions, I m disabled and walk with a stick but the would not let me join the end of the north bound queue which was about 50mtrs long but made me join a queue of mixed north south which wound it's way round the estate and at the front merged , in the end we went south and changed at Bruce grove to go back to cheshunt, a lot less hassel than WHL
