When I get the chance I spend February in Morocco, it’s usually 20-25 deg and sunny. The Moroccans are walking around in buttoned up sheepskins <laugh>

I’m just back from a long ass day at work, then went to the nursing home to see my old man. He can’t eat or drink anymore so his time is short. But I took a bottle of courvoiser in for him and they thickened it up on a tablespoon for him. He had that and waved his arm for another shot <cheers>

Good that the old boy is getting to enjoy his favourite tipple before he slips away.

I'm sorry, mate. Stay strong for your family, it's all you can do at this stage. Whatever the old man wants, the old man gets. I don't blame you for giving him it, or him for consuming :)

My Grandad drank plenty of red wine and whisky when he was in the hospice, think they even provided it.

Thoughts with you Piskie mate x

My grandad's treat when he was invalided was his glass of sherry. Down in one. I think a second usually followed despite what the doctors advised.

I love Morocco mate. I go over there to surf as they have world class surf breaks and I stay with my mate Khalid and his wife Kaltoum, down near Agadir. They run a little guesthouse right on the beach. It's a very culturally rich country as you have a mix of traditional Berber, Arab and Moorish influences as well as nomadic tribes from the Western Sahara. Great food, wonderful hashish, sublime music and generous warm people. Plus it's cheap as chips <ok>

Thanks mate, and thanks to the other lads who've commented on this. I asked the nurse yesterday about him having some brandy, as she was like 'He can have whatever he wants ! ' <ok> I sat with him tonight and held his hand and we watched some David Attenborough together. He was such a knowledgeable man about the natural world. It was a nice moment to share together.

This is the first time in my life I'm seeing end of life care up close and personal. The people who provide this care are some of the most compassionate humans you could ever hope to meet.

I'd love to mate. Foreign travel for most Moroccans is a complicated affair. Most of them don't even have a passport and if they did they'd need a Visa to travel to the UK. Then there's the issue of being able to afford the air fare. There are wealthy Moroccans who travel, and some who get jobs overseas (mainly in Spain) but for the vast majority, especially in the south they are a living subsistence life.

We take it for granted in the UK being able to travel freely around the world. But for the vast majority of people, this is just a dream.

TV conked out the other day so I went to buy a new one today. I’m not a techie guy so maybe I’m missing something when I’m looking at two same size TVs that will both make Masterchef and football matches appear on them but come at a different cost of several hundreds of pounds.
