Every election we vote Labour or Conservative, when the opposite party to your vote wins you have a moan to a mate or partner then it’s time to move on and get on with it. Sometimes it’s a big margin, other times a small one but you accept the majority wins and you simply move on. The Brexit vote was the same but corrupt politicians and politicians just wanting to get into power, scaremongering press and media trying to make a few extra quid with an exclusive and a few business bosses who will lose a few quid in their shares and pension pots have all jumped at the chance to fuel hatred and divide the country. The press and media have whipped the remainers into a frenzy, Teresa May has proved to be weak which hasn’t helped and I believe a hard Brexit followed by making it work is the only way to save face. A hard Brexit will means lots of winner and losers, we’ll learn to adapt, businesses that don’t will go under and be replaced by new business which takes advantage. Dixon’s, Woolworths, BHS, Comet, Blockbuster, Phones4u, Barrats, C&A, JJB Sports, Focus, MFI, Tandy, Rumbelows.... None can be blamed on Brexit, it happens and new guys come along..
Good post, Ristac, what a pity some can't see it for what it is, plain, honest truth. Another post I've seen listed the British companies that have been 'bought off' by the EU and shipped off=shore to prop up economies that can't support themselves, usually using the money that the EU rips out of the UK. But don't put all he blame for this on the EU, it was the company's directors that signed the paper in the end. It was they that sold the business.
The reason it was a close call is, the remainers, and some leavers chose to sit on their arses at home cos it was raining outside and they didn't want to get wet, more so remainers cos they're the ones remoaning about the same things and saying the vote was unfair. They've even gone to such lengths as to say many leavers have died since the referendum, and many kids have turned 18 now, so can vote........effin hell, where do they find these idiots..........no wonder the remainers lost.........OH, wait a minute, there's people who've come out of a coma too, surprised they didn't mention them a'nall. The remoaners had their fair democratic chance and they blew it. It's been said the remainers stayed at home cos they thought remaining was a shoe in, just like Cameron did.................wroooooooooooooooong.
Democracy as you say won but your ilk aren't letting it have a chance to succeed before changing your mind, your words not mine.
My stepson works at Dachser and before the Brexit vote all the staff were called into a meeting and the importance of remain was drummed into them, memos went out, they made it clear jobs would be safer with remain. Needless to say the staff all voted remain, well the ones he spoke to. Now they are preparing for a possible hard Brexit, they’ve been told jobs are safe. This is one example of many where UK top brass in business put pressure on the little guys with threats of job losses. If this scaremongering hadn’t taken place it wouldn’t have been such a small margin, Leave would have been by a much wider gap. https://www.dachser.com/en/mediaroom/Brexit-Times-almost-up-986?bookmarked=false What they really meant was Brexit will mean a bit more work for us and a bit of expenditure the shareholders won’t like and we like it the way it is so we’ll try and persuade staff they should vote remain.
That's the thing If,will never accept any new vote or not leaving the EU,if that means riots, blocking roads, ports, airports so be it.
brexit will happen with all ties cut. I don't think May is giving up though, her hidden agenda must be important enough to drive her on........Honestly, she's thick as a brick.
I'd like to think you're right, Chesh, but I believe the poms have lost their backbone and the whole thing will now just fade away. Sad.
No, she's rich and wants to get richer. I would imagine she, and her cronies, have vested interests in the EU and don't want to give them up.
Jeez, I wouldn’t waste my time pointing out facts for Chesh’ benefit! I just pull people up on bullshit from time to time, especially if they’re the type who aren’t shy of saying what they think. If they want to keep a digging a hole then that adds to the entertainment value. It’s just an Internet forum after all, killing a bit of time. ALAW
My view is the concept and execution of the referendum was flawed and politically motivated and it was hijacked by chancers. There’s no doubt that voters were misled, bullshitted and on occasion flat out lied to, which adds a validity question to the whole process. I suspect that more remainers than leavers stayed at home on vote night... because they thought it was a shoe-in anyway AND because the desire to change/leave is a more powerful motivator than to just keep what you have. In the end though none of that matters. Leave won the vote on the day, the rest is sour grapes. I didn’t vote leave and think it’s a bad thing for the country on a number of levels and values that I hold. But you have to respect that others have a different perspective from their own life experiences and values and that they are entitled to hold them. Leave won, leave voters are entitled to expect a brexit of some kind and to be very p*ssed off if they don’t get it. Unfortunately no-one pointed out at the time of brexit exactly what the brexit options would mean, but that’s the fault of the politicians not those that voted.
