These are a couple of interesting vids. AfD are obviously not everybody's cup of tea but it does show that there is quite a bit of disunity within Germany and a certain antipathy towards the EU as it currently exists. I was surprised by just how supportive of the UK the AfD are, and also how much the French are being portrayed as the villains of the piece.

AfD aren't "supportive of the UK". AfD are supportive of tearing apart the EU, because they're an extreme right-wing group that explicitly wants the EU scrapped to further their agenda, which is basically to revive chauvinist German nationalism.

So I'd argue the opposite: if the AfD is cheering on your aims, one should really reexamine their aims.

Politics makes for strange bed fellows. You’re entitled to your opinion of course but I don’t accept that just because one groups’ overall political aims may be distasteful or seem somehow threatening, that it should be a reason why another group cannot have some of the same aims and ambitions.

That attitude assumes that none of the ideas or aims, such as an aversion towards the idea of a controlling European super-state have any validity in their own right and are all therefore wrong/racist/dangerous because they are part of the ideology of a group that is seen as far right.

I understand what the AfD are, in essence, however I am not prepared to write off any idea as bad just because someone else believes it who is seen as bad. An awful lot of what was being said in those couple of videos is why a large number of Brits voted for Brexit.

Brexit could be viewed as a way of reviving British chauvinistic nationalism, but that doesn’t equate to Britain becoming a new fascist power in Europe.

Alternatively, they aren't strange bedfellows at all, and it should set alarm bells ringing if the AfD (and whatever Le Pen is calling her outfit this week) aligns broadly with one's aims and ethos, because they are radical and yeah, an awful lot of them are outright "Hitler did nothing wrong" fascists.

They just had the third vote on May's deal...

    Ayes: 286
    Noes: 344

Among the ayes were Boris Johnson and Jacob Rees-Mogg.

Withdrawal Agreement without the Political Declaration loses by 58 votes. This means the Brexit date comes forward again to 12th April, and any further extension will probably mean the UK has to take part in the EU Parliament elections.

As a nation, we have always had the gift of making the world laugh - congratulations to Parliament for putting Benny Hill, Monty Python and Alan Partridge firmly in the shade.

They should've just got the noise/clap 'o' meter off the BBC seeing as Opportunity knocks doesn't need it anymore. Would save all this "division" nonsense. They could just look at the 'ometer and see who wins.

Did Mogg ever say why he voted for the deal after saying he would vote for it IF the DUP did as they are the guardians of the union? Was the DUP part just complete bollocks?

If we’re going for a gameshow format, Bercow absolutely has to be the compere. He’s the best thing to come out of all this, by far.
