Away in south of England for a couple of weeks so went to see Bournemouth v Newcastle yesterday.

Not a great game with strong wind and heavy rain having a negative impact on Bournemouth's style of play. In the main Newcastle came to defend and hit on the break relying on Rondon to hold the ball up.

Neither side much better than us although what would we give for a Wilson/King or Rondon level of centre forward? Bournemouth, like us, gave the ball away regularly but Newcastle didn't have the players to take advantage.

Good to see Mike Dean have the guts to give a pen for holding/pushing by a defender at a set piece although he missed one by Bournemouth later in the game.

A couple of excellent goals especially Ritchie's volley to equalise with virtually the last kick of the game.

Funny to see about a dozen Newcastle fans get ejected and probably banning orders for coming over the barriers to celebrate their equaliser. 700 miles is a long way home when your coach has gone or you have missed your train.

From a Wales perspective, Mepham was excellent and my MotM. Cherries fans rate him highly.

Brooks played in a deeper role, was not very effective and was the main culprit in giving the ball away. Also, took a heavy late tackle from Diame (not seen by Dean) late first half. I was surprised to see him come out second half. Could well be withdrawn from Wales squad.

Dummett was okay for Newcastle, making some good defensive tackles.

Big comeback by Brighton in the cup. Equaliser in stoppage time.

Like to see Brighton win this if just to give them something to distract them from the Prem relegation scrap.

Absolutely agree that it shows Chelsea can be beaten. My only fear is that it will make them more determined as they will still be 3 points off a top four spot with games running out. There again, I'm sure we'll be determined too.

Watched a lot of the game - Everton were good value for their win. They pressed high and stopped Chelsea playing in midfield, just like us against West Ham

Chelsea always looked vulnerable if got at - that must be the plan. Sit back and we'll get beat.

Contrary to rumours, believed to have come from Southampton (See Sala thread for likely instigators) Neil Warnock will not become the new manager at Manchester United.

Much to Neil's disappointment OGS has been given a 3 year contract at Old Trafford.

Good luck to the guy, apart from our game in May, it is hard to dislike him. He has done a good job in his short time there, albeit with very capable assistants in Phelan and Carrick.

I think he learned a lot in his time with us which has subsequently made him a much better manager.

Yes, Mt Warnock will have to wait his turn. However, he should not lose hope as Cardiff City to Man Utd is now an established career path.

Good luck to OGS, its just a shame that he started the United recovery against us. I actually did fancy our chances had JM still been in place. Hey ho.

If Brighton don't beat Southampton today, they could be in deep site themselves.

That would make our postponed game with them down there into another real "6 pointer".

Man City beat Fulham today. We shock Chelsea with a 2-1 win tomorrow before Spurs beat Liverpool. Man City then feel comfortable and take their feet of the pedal and we beat them too. Job done.
