theres been loads of threads about which song/band/album is the best. it got me thinking as to which is the best live album. i know that no recording can be as good as being at a live show, but which album in your opinion comes closest to the real thing? your thoughts please?
not a big Bowie fan to be honest, but hes better than most of the crap that comes out today. i will give it a listen.
i think they are mostly there for people who went to the show and want to relive the experience, however ive heard a few that i wished i had been there for.
Because at live shows the singer/band performs the song with passion & feed off the crowd......rather than being in some ****ty little studio where the singer has sung the same line hundreds of times till its 100% perfect. I don't really like listening to anything but live performances
i get what you are saying brum, it always used to get me down when i went with mates to gigs, and invariably one would say, "it dont sound like the record " my response would always be, "well stay at home and listen to the effing record then, save your cash!" i guess they missed the point?
Conflict - Only Stupid Bastards Help EMI Funnily enough I found footage of most of that gig on youtube just a couple of weeks ago:
The Allman Brothers live at the Filmore East or The Rolling Stones , Get yer ya-yas out though to be honest , i think bootlegs done at small venues are usually the best.
U2 Under a Blood Red Sky. Live at Red Rock 1983. Utter, you beat me to it, lol.
Thin Lizzy - Live and Dangerous The Who - Live at Leeds Genesis - Seconds Out RATM - The Battle Of Mexico City Muse - Hullabaloo
i cant stand U2, live or otherwise, but good call on ACDC, if you want blood you got it. fantastic album, one of the first i bought. might just have to listen to "whole lotta rosie" now!
