Arsenal v Sheff Utd cup game was replayed because of a goal being scored that shouldn’t have been.. or something similar. I think when the ball should have been thrown back to Sheffield Utd. Steve Bruce was sheff utd Manager.
I remember what you originally described happening in a lower league game not too long ago. Team went to kick the ball back and it lobbed the keeper going in, ref ordered them to allow the other team to walk one in from ko. Want to say Yeovil v Doncaster.
Yes I remember that one too, I was obviously confusing that with the Arsenal game! No idea if was Doncaster but Yeovil rings a bell. Talking of Yeovil, their old ground the Huish must have had some strange incidents, as one side of the pitch was 8 feet higher than the other!
Also, Di Canio caught the ball in an FA Cup match when played clean through as a player was down injured I believe and should have been played out.
I played in a match a few years ago where the opposition were supposed to kick the ball back to our goalkeeper after we put it out for a throw for an injury to them. This twat got the ball, took a few touches to the edge of our box and smashed it in to the top corner whilst everyone stood there watching. Ref made them take the throw again
I remember Plymouth (Steve Crawford I think) being allowed by the opposition to walk the ball from kick-off into their goal because Plymouth had unfairly conceded a goal. Can`t remember who their sporting opponents were though.
