Morning all. Quite misty outside, but another warm sunny day is in prospect. A bit of a worry is that I have had to do a little watering already, yet my water butts are not fully filled and no rain is forecast for the next ten days. I think my best bet is to increase my mulching and hope to retain the moisture within the ground. Enjoy your day, with or without mulching.
Good news as a Swiss player who was knocked out and swallowed his tongue, was saved from a very dangerous situation when an opponent knew enough first aid to stick his hand down his throat and pull the tongue out. Amazingly Fabian Schaer the Swiss player continued to play on. On a less dramatic case, I was just going to the garage this afternoon to get some more petrol, when I noticed a hand waving from what appeared to be a person under a parked car. Stopping I found a very elderly gent stuck on the ground, with his legs trapped under the seat of his car, but his body on the ground. I managed to free his legs, but he was too heavy for me to lift him on my own. Mme went into the village hall where a Loto was in progress, and hauled out a man to help. We heaved him away from the car, then up onto his feet. We sat him back onto the car seat, and told him to stay there until more help could come. Blow me if he didn't get up again, then fall into a heap once more. This time I got him up, and propped him against his car, and held on tightly. Three large men arrived, so I got back into my car and departed. Not sure that he had had a liquid lunch, he had a hearing aid in which may not have been switched on, but he was very difficult to talk to. Gathered he was a Mr. Bonnet, so hope he is alright, if rather sore.
Morning all. Bright, but not that warm yet as the wind has moved round to the north. Still it is dry and I have a number of things to do, starting with the buddleia shrubs that need reducing in height. They are great plants for attracting butterflies, but also are a good source of seeds for the birds in winter. Defra would like you to remove the seed heads as the plant can spread very quickly, but I prefer to watch the birds enjoying them when there is not much food about.
Morning all. Bright, but quite a chill breeze at the moment. Back to the thermal bobble hat pulled down over the ears. The early French strawberries have just started to appear in the shops, and for some reason they have a great deal more flavour than the larger imported ones that are available through the winter. Lovely fresh berries from Provence with cream makes you glad to have a sense of taste and smell.
Afternoon all... Just had a family weekend in Swaledale celebrating Mmes birthday.. Had some very mixed weather and a great walk over the moors Sent from my F8331 using Tapatalk
The elderly gent I helped, who had fallen out of his car, and was stuck with his legs still inside has recovered I have heard. It seems he is diabetic, and his sugar levels had got out of control. It explains why he seemed disorientated and so difficult to talk with. Still very pleased to know he is alright now.
Good morning all from a cool and dry Weston-super-Mare! Have a good day Course of treatment finished yesterday, off to Norwich for a week this morning. Sad news is, they have Internet up there so you'll have to put up with my boring postings ( fish, fish)
Morning all. Another bright start to the day, but still a bit on the cool side with the light wind coming from the North East. Enjoy your trip Dave. Did I see that there could be snow again in the UK by the weekend?
