I know you're not impressed either, Cosi, and I will concede that he's not always the tidiest around the track. I do have to agree with Mifune though, his HRT was all but invisible on TV last year and, anyway, he was driving it with a hole in the floor for half the season, that's how precarious it was. Liuzzi and Ricciardo don't know how lucky they are! As for Senna B, what can I say? B-movie perhaps, B team? Anyway, there ain't no Senna A anymore Poor Bruno, at least he had the good sense not to be Bruno Lalli.
Well, he is a racing driver, I really dont care if he was in a HRT last year. He and Petrov started in the same year, near enough everyone says Petrov is crap. And Petrov is doing much better. If he wants to get a seat, he has to beat Petrov and by quite a bit. I'm going to rate him as a racer and its not good at the minute. He hasnt ever impressed me tbh
He has shown in qualifying that he can pretty much match Petrov, which is one step up from where Heidfeld was. Its his race mistakes that may cost him a full season at Renault next season if he can't iron them out.
Im sorry but that is a stupid comment for a number of Reason. 1. He was about 4 tenths slower than Petrov today (nick Heidfelds average) in his 1st dry qualifying in 10 months. 2. Petrov is not that bad. After pasting NH in Qualy nobody is questioning his seat anymore. He has also improved a lot since last year. Dont get me wrong he is still not a top driver, but the "you must thrash Petrov or your crap" is very harsh. 3. Last years HRT was a GP2 car. Very little to learn from his time there, and he didn't do that badly.
I can't understand why people are so unwilling to give Bruno a chance his name is a massive hinderance to him not a help and he has put the Lotus/Renault in the top 10 in 2 out of 2 races, jeeeeeeeeeeeeeesusssssss give the boy a break
I have to say... He's doing way better than I expected! I was worried he might struggle stepping in mid season. I stand corrected.
All this close to Petrov, not as good as etc... At Spa their grid positions were reversed from today's: Senna P7, Petrov P10. I hope we're not going to get all Senna v. Petrov now because I like them both. And allsaintchris, he only made one mistake racing in Spa but it was a costly one. I'm with mephistopheles, we should give him a fair chance. I hope he gets it. Many were saying Petrov was useless until the final race last year but this year he's been effectively leading the team.
Its supprising people think he is in F1 for his name... Not because of the impressive Honda testing Not Because of his impressive GP2 season where he came 2nd only due to bad reliability and a couple of Dogs! Not because of his impresive Le Mans series in a minor team where he picked up a few podiums Not because of out performing his team mates at HRT in an outdated and heavier Chassis Not because of his impressive Karting Carear that he stopped after the tragic death of his uncle and returned to motorsport and do all of the above after the age of 21 and also he is Bruno Senna not Bruno Lalli as much as his uncle isnt Ayrton Da Silva Rant over (yes I have followed his carear and thrilled he is now in F1...)
All your ponts are valid, but he brings sponsership to the team, which nearly always makes people question the driver. Also Klien outqualified him by more than a second in the only race that he did. He was lucky to get into Q3 today. Personally I think he deserves a chance but there are clearly reasons why people can feel justifed saying he is there for his name
1. Lots of drivers bring money into a team such as Hamilton, Sutil, Schumacher, Perez, Alonso, it does not mean that is the only reason they have got the drive. 2. Klein outqualified him once in Singapore because Senna's car had massive snap oversteer. The other times Klein raced Senna was faster than him. 3. How was he lucky to get into Q3? It was a very good lap.
Actually four! I agree that he is doing very well, he has been thrown in at the deep end -very little running on Pirelli's b4 Spa and he has definetly performed well considering this! I hope he gets some points tomorrow!
Im just hoping that him and Schumi have a good battle so that Brundle can say "And theres Senna overtaking Schumacher, oh no Michael has got back past Senna, its a great battle here between Senna and Schumacher"
1. I'm just saying that drivers are usually questioned talent-wise when they bring money to the team. Maldanado won GP2 and lots of people doubted him. 2. Really? I must have forgotten, cheers 3. Got through by 6 thousandths of a second in a faster car and didn't Brundle say he got Hamilton slipstream?
I dont think it is possible to be lucky in qualy, unless it rains at a helpful time or something. Bruno made Q3 because he was quick enough.
Exactly Mifune. As you suggest; tyre wear and fuel levels evolve as a race (or even qualifying) unfolds. It is therefore the responsibility of any race driver to account for this evolution (especially during a race where it is far more significant) in order to be 'consistent'/'accurate'/'precise'/(etc.). My point is that these things are a function of all cars, including last year's HRT. These are things which are part and parcel of racing and nothing to do with which car one happens to be driving (within any particular series). In this respect, Bruno Senna has not impressed me. The TV coverage has been only a part of my impression; last season I was able to attend more than half the races, which of course gave me the opportunity to study him as carefully as anyone else. However, I repeat that I consider him to have some fundamental speed - which, if he can tidy up his act to become 'consistent' - may merit a long-term place on the grid. A driver would normally need to address this aspect of driving very quickly, but since is in the fortunate position of bringing a lot of money to any seat he sits in - he is bound to be an attractive proposition 'on paper' and is therefore likely to have his seat 'cushioned'! Good luck to him. He is a nice guy and I like nice people.
Well Julius: to make such a statement requires a definition of 'luck', otherwise we are simply dealing with semantics; rendering any such statement hollow.
Cosi, Ayrton had a unique style of driving a car that no driver could emulate, it is said he made the car dance, it was by no means orthodox, is it not possible that Bruno also has a unique style? it isn't text book but maybe it will turn out to be just as effective as his uncles, what do you think?
