If you want a laugh, read the following article by Gordon Strachan – ‘Asked where the Yorkshire giants might be in two years’ time if they end their search for the holy grail, Strachan told Leeds Live: “A lot depends on investment now. It’s huge. Recruitment’s huge in football now, no matter what club you’re at, it’s not so much tactics, it’s recruitment. “Leeds can drag people, a lot of players in because of the atmosphere, the stadium, the history. They can do more than most clubs that get promoted.” No mention of wanting to join a club because of their manager/head coach/other players etc!! Elland Road has a pull and attraction that other promoted clubs can’t match. Then, there is the history and prestige of a club who won the league title 27 years ago, as well as in the 1970s, and have reached a Champions League semi-final. Given a choice between the same money and the same playing role at Leeds or Norwich or Sheffield, the Yorkshire giants’ two automatic-promotion rivals wouldn’t stand a chance. Carrow Road and Bramall Lane just don’t have the same allure or tradition. It’s enough to make them green with envy. ‘
Chilwell looking very suited to playing for England. Looking confident and calm. Like Madders would, if given the same chance.
The amazing stat from the commentators is that Tomas Kalas is Chelsea’s (?!?!!) longest serving player. Since 2010. Just two appearances for Chelsea. What’s the point??
VERY interesting article by Paul Merson on JM's chances of paying for England https://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/...ews/james-maddison-could-find-himself-2679157
This is a fun, biting article about Redknapp distancing himself from Brum's current troubles. https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...g-a-familiar-tune-to-disown-birminghams-blues
Nice! Go on lad!! "Kenny McLean has opened the scoring with a glancing header after a smart cross from Ryan Fraser. The former Aberdeen midfielder had started the game in a lively manner, with a volley that fizzled wide of the post just moments before."
I'm sure I'm not alone in wanting to see Leitner replace him in the starting 11 for the last couple of games, but he's 'grasped the nettle' and is playing well.
As much as I appreciate that Leitner is more gifted player,I think McLean offers a bit more bite ,as Tettey did. Happy with any 2 from 4 in our midfield
I agree with both of you. In the long term, I prefer Leitner. But, against the stingiest defense in the league KMc is a better goal scoring threat.
Starting line up was baffling. Start was dominating, but a lot like Norwich last season. 1-0 down. Not at all shocked. Why would you start out of form players who don't start for their clubs? Why drop players who have been immense. The line up felt like an experimental friendly.
I do not understand having Ward-Prowse and no Maddison I know Maddison plays further forward, but surely he offers something different as an alternative formation
That young England side did so well to turn that around. After conceding they looked really poor for a spell and could have conceded again. They battled on and got in front, then took control again. In the build up, a lot of talk about the intimidating atmosphere, and flares thrown on the pitch etc. Not a word of racist abuse, but I was sure it would be another of those games. Then to actually witness it again. Disgusting. Can't believe this is still happening. Needs really harsh punishment. I bet they will just get a tiny fine. They at least need to play the rest of their games behind closed doors. Those "fans" don't deserve to go to these internationals.
