a week ago there was an assumption there would be a long extension.

the eu have said very clearly this ends now. we have til the 12th April if we vote down the deal again. right now we won't even vote on it. they have said right. if you decide you want...again Norway+ then we must accept elections and have then to stay in to renegotiate.

if we accept we are then out on 22nd.

the reality is they have the future.of eu to get on with and we've all ignored that. they have said excuse me but our elections are important here and more important than your bullshit.

as it stands unless someone in UK breaks we are looking at may bleeding down the time to the 12th trying once again her deal.or no deal.

When major won? They had just got rid of Maggie, who was seen as the devil .Long time ago but I think the prevailing thought was that now she was gone, things would be ok.

I have to say that the area that ****ed corbyn was Scotland. the kind are wiped out there but conservatives got in enough to hold on which is actually amazing.

the rise of snp has hurt labour as Scotland was always a dead space for Tories par se.

time before last the libs were wiped out. I think labour need to get back up there to win next election.

I can't see it, she knows her deal is dead, next week will see moves towards inductive votes. Which will probably end up with either a g.e. or new referendum.

I will qualify all I say as it's very much a guess, as this farce has progressed I don't think anybody would be surprised if may next addressed parliament dressed as scooby doo and had s vote on joining the galactic alliance.

We were in the middle of a massive recession, there was internal problems within the Tory party. Kinnock lost the election rather than Major winning it. It was more a case of Kinnock snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. Ahhh how I wish John Smith had survived after taking over from Kinnock, history is made on such small details.

I hope someone moves for indicitive votes..

but the Tories and dup could.vote it down. they have the majority and someone must break from it... someone has to break party lines to break this impasse.. but who?

people elect people so you are right. Kinnock was unelectable.

that's why new Labour rose. and new Labour is the reason we have corbyn now... so is corbyn electable to enough people.

will middle England trust him with their pensions?

They could've had the other Miliband brother. Far more electable than Ed.

Blair had the great advantage of lots of money in the bank, Labour then managed to piss it all up the wall and run up a massive deficit with their use of PFI. This time around whoever wins the election will have the results of Brexit to deal with, no money, and a huge deficit. The main parties will be desperate not to win so they can blame whoever does win for all our ills.

There are a few imo. The problem is if you're a decent, honest MP you'll probably get sidelined, won't make the headlines, and then become demonised by the media for the sake of their own agenda or those in power they are in bed with.

I think bailing the banks out to the tune of over £5bn had some effect too. No fan of Blair (or PFI's, that were actually started under the Tories), but the idea that there wasn't an economic boom under Blair and Brown in the early Noughties is just plain daft.
