not our fault if them damn foreigners have no bottle and throw it away but you are right all English teams are ****e no "technical" players ply their trade in the PL and all those European trophies stacked up in English club trophy rooms were all pure flukes.
You do realise these same comments were being made back in the 70's whilst we were the top club in Europe .

Well I don't mean to par se.

I'm just saying technically speaking the English league values different skills to other countries.

I especially did not intend to make city sound average I did say they are in for quadruple for a reason, technical skills are much more in force.

yet even for example pep wanted shut of aguero cos he saw him as being a player who needed those balls in that more often than not just lose the ball. even pep had to admit stuff I is just that demand good he had to keep him.

Weird game Netherlands v Germany. Germany dominated first half, 2-0 up and since HT Netherlands have been in control and got it back to 2-2.

Depay has looked very good when ever seen him for Netherlands. Wonder if anyone is going to take another chance on him, been very good at Lyon as well. Maybe moved to United too soon and has now developed into a player that can play at top level

yes exactly. we are putting kids on basically full sized pitches at 12 and 14 even in our elite.academies and underage leagues that Liverpool play in.

You don't need to be near an 11 a side game.learning how to be a full back or a central midfield or centre half or whatever at even 14.

you need to be focused on skills and touches.

    that my opinion anyway.

we make a lot of the types you see in cheslea academy. power is valued. ability to run, pace.

    where's the Gazza? scholes?

like... Gerrard for us.. fabulous player but a big big part of his game was athletic you aactually only got glimpses of his ability to play in tight spaces cos of how he played.

I used to get in early to watch warm ups of players as you really got a feel for ability. one of the absolute best players I've seen in terms of striking a ball was actaully Rooney but again.. start the game and it's all strength and running and ****. he could do a he'll of a lot on the ball.

there are several examples out there like say zaha who've looked better when just played and valued.

dembele at Barca is after getting a bit more time and he was well on his way to ****ing himself up.

it'll be interesting for sure to see if someone takes a punt. he won't be cheap out of lyon.

There is a fair number of English lads in the game, I'm not just talking about the premier League. They are all the same, can run like **** and get stuck in.

For the sheer amount of teams we have in this country we should be producing a much more varied type of player, but we don't we churn out the same type of player all the time.

I agree completely, pace, power and fitness are the most important things.

Being able to kick the ball hard is also seen as an important trait.

Kids should be training and playing on five a side pitches, reduce the space improve touch, technique and speed of thought.

Power and pace will come regardless as they grow up, keeping the ball under pressure must be practiced.

Said for a number of years that competitive youth football is a disadvantage. Should be no competition/league football until you get to 14/15 really as all it does is focus team on winning at all costs which mean passing the ball around isn’t encouraged at the back for risk of losing the ball and conceding.

    Totally agree
I am managing an under 8 team atm
My pet peeve is opposition sticking one up top and just lumping the ball in their general direction to win the game.

I really could not give a monkeys whether we have won or lost as long as they have had a good time and are looking to pass the ball.
No idea if i am right but that the way we doing it.

Would recommend getting involved to anyone, its amazing watching them develop
They just want to play its great

Liverpool forward Sadio Mane has made front page headlines in Spain because of a transfer rumour linking him with Real Madrid.
MARCA is going to run the news, which says that new Madrid gaffer Zinedine Zidane wants to sign Reds star Mane in the summer.

This is just another in the long line of Liverpool transfer rumours that have popped up over the last few weeks and it’s not the first time one of Jurgen Klopp’s lads has been linked with a move to the Spanish capitol.

Local youth teams now play 9 a side with smaller football and only 20 mins each way, smaller pitch, smaller goals. Helped with coaching and on the smaller pitches it’s all about control and movement, not who can chase a long ball. Things have changed a lot since my early days, it’s not just busy no the fat kid in goal and big kid at the back and fast kid up front n

The pitch my eldest plays on could be half the size and they would still have plenty of room. After an hour they trudge off absolutely shattered, but most of them have only touched the ball a handful of times, but they've run up and down an awful lot.

It's a general problem with youth football though, winning at all cost by far to young. Every coach says the same "I just want them to be happy playing" but the majority then go for the biggest lads and play kick and rush.

There is a youth side by us that wins alot, wins the league every year come what may. I tell you know, they look ****ing miserable, they can be 10 nil up and are still terrified of loosing the ball for the moaning from the coach and parents.

Mauricio Pochettino explains why new stadium will give Spurs edge over Man City
please log in to view this image

Mauricio Pochettino feels the fact that New Tottenham stadium: 5 things we noticed from craft beer to comfortable toilets can swing things in their favour in the Champions League.

The manager watched the club's young stars cut the ribbon in a ramp-up event on Sunday.

The Spurs boss says it was an emotional experience seeing a ball kicked at the much-delayed new ground for the first time.

    Only my opinion.

Why not have kids play on similar size pitch to hockey until they get to 16 etc rather than full size which is usually too much for them?
