Saturday afternoon saw promotion hopefuls Blackpool host troubled East Anglian outfit Ipswich Town. Ahead of the match under-fire Ipswich Town boss Paul Jewell admitted that his aim was to "make ourselves hard to beat", whereas his Tangerines counterpart was in high spirits following a promising start to the season. The first half saw Ipswich stuggle to get into the game, with long spells of Blackpool possession, however the half ended goalless. Going into the second half, Jewell set his side up with 6 at the back, with three midfield players and highly rated Chopra playing a free role; however Blackpool were able to pick through the packed defence with ease, resulting in Taylor-Fletcher and Fergusson scoring within a fifteen minute spell of backs-to-the-wall Ipswich defending. Blackpool went on to dominate and could have scored four or five if it weren't for bad luck and a host of deflected efforts due to Jewells tactical defensive switch. The match finished two nil. After the match, Jewell admitted that many of his transfer targets had opted to join other clubs, before breaking down crying stating that "it's not fair" and "the bigger boys are mean to me". The match leaves Ipswich Town towards the bottom of the table, and according to many observers they are "royally ****ed", despite winning some stuff in Europe "back in the day". More to follow.
