Very relieved. Couldn't make sense of the back 4. Thought we were playing 3 at the back and 5 in the middle.
Not the most comfortable victory, but a good win nonetheless. Need to sort the defense though, we're starting to get a tad leaky.
Great result. Forest are always a differcult team to play, home or away. I was at the Dell when Crossley saved Le Tiss penalty!
Another 3 on the board for Saints, still 2nd and going strong. Nigel was happy and thought the game was "exciting" and "great for the fans". What is reassuring is to see us winning in several ways, comfortably, battling and coming from behind. And we were unlucky not to take anything from Leicester! Good times for SFC. Onwards and Upwards.
Had I been a Forest fan I would have felt hard done by today, they should have had at least one pen. the Ref was the nearest we have had to a homer in years! Forest were good, but faded after Miller and Mousi went off, I reckon that it was the toughest game that Fonte has had in his life. Notice how much better Corky played when De Ridder came on and gave him support, Guly is a good player but doesn't do his share of defending with any consistancy. Good subbing by NA yet again, addressing the obvious shortcomings. We are lucky to have four of the best midfielders in the league, but it is tough having to play all of them at the same time! I don't know if it has been mentioned, Richardson allegedly has a ham string tweak, and Harding knocked a knee in training on Friday it would appear.
Great game, an old fashioned end to ender with lots of changes in who was on top. Really think Saints shot themselves in the foot by starting to cruise when 2 up and let Forest back in. The back four weren't communicating well and the Forest right back got acres of space all game. Cork looked uncomfortable at right back. Hooiveld did ok, some good interceptions and strong in the air. As you would expect, wasn't really on the same wavelength at times with Fonte. I think Kelvin scared him a couple of times too... mind you, he scared the **** out of me. Really lucky to get away with what he was doing. Spiderman was a bit too in and out at times. He shouldn't be letting the centre backs pass the ball when he's in space, he should be taking it off them. Hammond worked hard. Lallana was a bit off, although still some magic moments, but he wasn't tracking back well today. Sir Rickie of Lambert... awesome. Proper striker, goes in where it hurts, doesn't get bullied, a man mountain.
And that had enough incidents and chances to fill 30 minutes of highlights on tv... so I'm predicting 42 seconds on the football league show later... most of which will be Steve McLaren whingeing after the game.
Got to thank McLaren for taking off Moussi. he was Forest's best player and all his subs worked in Saints favour. Miller was also giving our back four a tough time, McGoldrick did nothing.
Spot on CBK, Connolly was getting quite a bashing too, showed some class touches, no contest for MoM Rickie by a mile, not just his goals but for everything else that he did. Foxy did well too, Dan is going to struggle to get the shirt back.
Game of two halves today. After their first goal, we were excellent for about 30 mins. The last 10 mins we gave them far too much respect and they punished us. Second half, we couldn't keep the ball at all well and Forest's pace up front was dangerous. There was definitely another goal in the game and luckily it went to us. I'm delighted for Lambert and I think he might be joint top scorer in the Championship now. I thought Hooiveld and Fox did well. Hooiveld lacks a touch of pace but he was very comfortable in possession and Fox's set piece delivery was outstanding.
