After falling somewhat off the perch recently and looking at the upcoming difficult schedule makes me think that if we fail to come up with at least 4 points from our travels then our season could be all but done and dusted. Having to visit both Middlesbrough and Sheffield is not exactly what we need at his vital time of the season but that's our lot and we have to deal with it and take whatever comes our way. The shortcomings are becoming more evident as time passes and if you want to be considered a serious contender then you need all your ducks in a row for the entire season, and I don't think we have met that major requirement.
this could very well be! Assume no other games are played until after we play these 2 .. we lose both ……….. TABLE AROUND US WILL LOOK LIKE ……….. WITH 8 TO GO 4 West Brom ...…..38 19 10 9 72 48 24 67 5 Middlesbrough … 38 16 13 9 40 31 9 61 6 Aston Villa ………. 38 14 15 9 68 54 14 57 7 Preston ............…..38 15 12 11 58 50 8 57 8 Derby ………………. 37 15 11 11 46 44 2 56 9 Bristol City …......38 15 10 13 45 38 7 55 10 Sheff Wed ...…...38 14 13 11 48 51 -3 55 11 Nottm Forest ….38 13 15 10 52 44 8 54 time for bed
Well I was completely wrong about the Sheffield United result , I hope that tradition is not maintained as I now feel we have a chance a getting something tonight , I won’t predict a score but with Boro’s poor home form recently, and our good away form this season, I feel we’ll get at least a point COYR
IMO, this game is massive and as usual it's gonna be a tough ask to get anything from it.......but a win would show our intent for the playoffs, a draw would keep us there and thereabouts, a loss, will drop the confidence of the players and I fear it will be season over...COYR
This was the point I was trying to make with my thread. If we should win these 2 games then we are still strongly in the hunt for the playoffs, but lose them both and I would suspect that our season would essentially have been over. We did the business with aplomb in the first game and now it's down to our performance tonight at the Riverside where a point would be acceptable but three would be a dream in our efforts to show we mean real business. I won't know the result until later today after Ann and I have gone out for lunch. Come on City.
Like you onefor I did not expect 6 points from 2 difficult away matches against exactly the teams we needed to beat if we wanted to challenge for a playoff spot. The squad seem to have the right attitude, which might help us through the final weeks of the campaign, and they will need all that resolve and more because the road doesn't become any easier towards the end. The next game at home to Wigan is just the kind of game I hate because we are expected to take an easy 3 points, and I hope someone has told the people at the end of the pier. Thrown in for good measure are some tasty games against some of the contenders and if we play as well in those games as we did tonight then hopefully all will be favourable to us in our quest. I think most of would have accepted a playoff spot at the start of the season and here we are within touching distance of that desire and after that it's 2/3 game lottery culminating at Wembley. Will we be there - and what about you????
OW! somethings just bitten me again ……………… I was happy with 1pt from either meant we didn't have 2 losses! on the trot to go into WIGAN GAME. hoping for 2 or 3 points a draw after Sheff win = 4 pts to get 6 BOOM BOOM . WHEN THE RED HEADED ROBIN GOES A BUM, BUM, BUMMING ALONG .. along ...
