I was planning to, but my 96 year old mother had taken a turn for the worse, so I need to be around here. Have put in a donation and signed the petition. I really hope things get sorted - or I’ll start looking at moving to Namibia .....

Sorry to hear about your mother Dave, best wishes for you both.

I have family in the Scottish Borders, which is quite a tempting thought at the moment!

And some say that 16 year olds aren’t knowledgeable or mature enough to be allowed to vote.

Labour are amateurs when it comes to the divide and rule aspect. OK, Blair divided public opinión but as the war in the Middle East impacted far fewer people than Brexit, so public protest was not so vociferous, nor did it divide the nation. I feel the 66-70 Government was the best in our post-war history but for the Tory press dissing Labour. And the reason behind the devaulation was to encourage others to buy our exports but as good a notion as that was, our products were not as good as the Germans, Japanese or the French. And that fault goes back to pre- WW1!!

I'm not blaming bots however. I can sign for me, then I can sign for my 7 and my 12 and my 13 year old. And then I can sign for my Portuguese wife. So I could add 5 signatures to a petition validly..........despite all 5 of those signatures only representing 1 eligible vote !!!(Referendum/General election.)

There is a big difference to signatures on a petition to whether that has any effect on an actual vote. No-one can know just how many of those signatures are at all eligible to vote.

I detest the way our government is run, and Brexit has just amplified this.

There has to be a way that we can get more real world experience into the decision making processes of this country. It’s quite clear to me that our adversarial, argument based politics doesn’t really work in this day and age. Maybe it worked in the 1700s when you could just hang the opposition, but not now.
All that our current system does is create a real detachment from reality. Why are we relying on career politicians to run the nation when the nation is run by people who know what they’re doing?

    One idea could be:

    - in order to be a minister for X, you have to have a certain amount of years as a specialist in that field.
(Eg the minister of health has to have worked in the NHS for a number of years).

As ever it's those that can cope the least are most affected. I'm surprised and disappointed with MLT's position. How long has he been on Sky?

Why is what he is saying so wrong, I voted remain but also believe in democracy, we had a vote it went that way now get on with it.
I never voted for this government but still follow the laws they make and pay taxes.
The alternative is anarchy with every vote overturned if you don't like it.

I think he is just as fed up as the rest of us and just want it over - one way or another. They are beating us into submission.

This is a momentous decision not day to day parliamentary business.
So you’re happy for a fraudulently won referendum, with 17.4 million people or 26% of the population as a whole, 37% of the electorate in an advisory referendum (as are all referenda) to be described as democratic? It was made law by parliament and can be rescinded. Voters were hoodwinked by Barclay brothers and Rothermere propaganda and leave campaign misleading statements https://thebrexitsyndicate.com/2018/07/04/the-barclay-brothers/ Look at the poster statements and compare with today's reality. https://twitter.com/bydonkeys?lang=en . A public vote to ratify or reject whatever leaving position is eventually reached would be democracy not following a narrow majority nearly three years ago.
