Was better in Spa, but he did well under pressure to pip Di Resta. Will be interesting to see what he can do tomorrow with his different strategy.
I'd prefer to see him perform tomorrow before a proper response. As I've said before, his qualifying is good but his racing is untidy, so I'm hoping he can address this tomorrow. He has speed but is inconsistent, often looking like a fast amateur. If he gets it right tomorrow, he needs to become consistent for the remainder of the season; and only then will he justify another in my opinion.
I do not know where you have got this inconsistent thing from Cosi but fair enough that is your view. From what I have seen of him he seems to build himself up in quali getting quicker and quicker throughout the session. In the races, well last year he made minimal errors in the races certainly less than drivers like Hamilton, Schumacher and Petrov and at Spa after his mistake at the start he made no more errors and worked himself back up to 13th with a fairly good pace.
From watching him! Yes, of course it's my opinion but I've watched him carefully; racing is my profession!
Being a Huge fan of his uncle Ayrton, I am probably pretty biased. I am sitting here wishing for a wet race and hopefully then be able to catch a glimpse of Ayrtons wet weather mastery genes inherited Don't forget that his great quali last race was in mixed conditions. I really hope I am right, but in any case, he was only four 10's of Petrovs Q2 i believe? I think that's not too bad being his second qualify in that car AND after a year break. Look at Webber's and Masssa's gap to their team mates. Look at past records for Button's and Schumacher's. Seems like Schumi have caught up, at least when it comes to race pace he seem the better of the Merc drivers and button is def not(if at all) far behind lewis in the races ether. You cant really count Bruno's last year as much experience as that car was a joke so this is in a way almost his first season in a decent car (which is pretty terrible too this year) and good team. Give him at least til the end of the season to get up to speed before judging him too hard.
I understand your passion Chrispa but Ayrton Senna da Silva is obviously not Bruno Senna Lalli; and from what I've seen so far, there's a world of difference!
He was lucky to get into Q2. Di Resta nearly beat him with a slower car. I haven't been very impressed with Senna B this weekend, but perhaps my expectations are too high. I was under the impression that he replaced Heidfeld for performance reasons.
Heidfeld was on average 0.490 seconds slower than Petrov in qualifying this season, Senna was 0.416 seconds behind Petrov today.
I think you're being a bit disingenuous, Forza. You're not keen on Bruno, full stop. Always calling him Senna B is a bit of a giveaway! But I'm biased too, the other way, like Mifune, and I also think he's doing well. I was a little disappointed that he didn't go out in Q3, especially as Petrov pushed the car to seventh, but it was a cautious strategic decision and probably a sensible one. Trying to be objective, I think we're rushing to evaluate him, which is natural enough I suppose, but 2 qualis and 1 race isn't much to go on. Anyway, it's Boullier's opinion which counts and he says that swapping Nick for Bruno has changed the energy of the team for the better; a point or four tomorrow is reasonable to expect.
Petrov was fighting to keep his seat last year, and is still regarded as a pay driver by a not inconsiderable amount of people. Senna's out of practice so I'm not expecting him to be beating Petrov right away, but if he wants to be seen as successful he really needs to start getting one over Petrov soon.
I agree with this Max. It really is too early to judge his Renault performance. But he didn't impress me with HRT and my impression has nothing to do with the car's performance, which makes no difference to a driver's ability to brake and turn in at the same place on any given corner (consistent weather permitting). And it is this that I'm getting at when I speak of B Senna as untidy and inconsistent. P.S. Using 'B' is a simple distinction from 'A' and does not mean I dislike him!
To be honest it sounds pretty impossible to tell because it is not like he got a lot of tv coverage during races driving around at the back, so I do not know how you can see enough of him to accurately judge that. Surely though throughout a race where you are breaking and turning in are going to change due to tyre wear and fuel levels?
You're thinking of the end of Q2 (ie getting into Q3), and though Di Resta nearly beat him you have to say Senna pulled out the lap he needed under pressure. Don't know what happened to him in Q3, I'm pretty sure he went out on track at one point but guessing the team decided to save some tyres.
