A totally abject performance from Scotland, even if three were to qualify from their group they won't make it, they might just edge San Marino...

Never a penalty on Sterling. Obstruction at best, but we'll take it.

England have been rampant tonight at Wembley.
What an absolute joy to watch these youngsters.
Sterling must be the best player in the Premier League right now. So pleased for him. (Thanks Pep!).

We really are on the verge of something very exciting here imo.

Terrific game by Sterling- really just keeps developing as a pro now and great to see him hitting such form. Even a bit of defensive cover at times. Really pleased for him.

It really is exciting to see such young players doing so well for England. The drag-back nutmeg from Sancho in the first half was a delight - he's eighteen years old playing his first senior game!

The first half away to Spain in the Nations League was probably the best 45 minutes I've ever seen from an England team.

    The future's bright.

Terrific performance from England tonight, They/we have so many options in every department. Exciting times as Southgate isn't scared to play the the youth and give them the confidence to go and play. Hopefully England will be there at the latter stages of the major tournaments and dare I say get to the final or even win one of them. What a breath of fresh air Southgate has been.

It’s ****ing great isn’t it? Playing with no fear, finally.

Delighted for Sterling especially, who Guardiola is making better and better, on and off the pitch. I’ve been critical in the past, and am delighted to be being proved wrong.

Doubtless there will still be some saying we should have scored 10 and that anything sort of galactic domination is a failure, and any success we do have will be down to luck, weak opposition etc. Just playing good football is enough for me.

The thing that I really like is the fact that in Southgate we have an England manager that ‘hasn’t won everything in the game’, neither as a player nor manager, isn’t a foreign Big Name that the rigor mortii in the FA previously convinced themselves was the only way forward, and having got the role pretty much by accident has shown that possessing a certain degree of intelligence and a ton of boldness can yield dividends.

I actually see an exciting young team with loads of room still to improve, the next World Cup if we reach our potential is a real chance
