Neither are interested in what's best for the country, they're only interested in point scoring at playground politics!
So we've had a cabinet revolt and may is now begging EU for a short extension (with no reason for it) and the EU are saying you still have not told us what you want but thats fine we are ready for you to **** off on the 29th March so stick your nonbinding vote up your hole. The speaker says no more votes on that ****e deal May. OHHHDAHHH (me a pizza luv) pretty good day for May then
i never thought it would be possible, but May is starting to look a lot ****ing worst than thatcher was!
This has become a bit of a catch phrase, but I'm not entirely sure it's true. One the one hand you have the conservators who are massively split with no consensus on how to move forward, The Labour party is again split, but they don't have to do much, they just need to thwart the government. It's not up to them to come up with any answers. We never elect the best party we elect the least worst. When the **** ups get to much to bear, we let the other party have a go. All labour are doing is letting the conservatives dig there own grave.
May is no where near as bad as Thatcher, may is incompetent. Thatcher was very competent at being evil incarnate
The majority of the people who did vote voted leave, the majority of politicians in Westminster are remainers and many are not following the will of their electorate, the referendum was an individual vote for every eligible UK voter. But the remainer MP's are acting like they're still acting on behalf of themselves rather than their constituents, democracy in this country has gone down the toilet. The majority of people in Northern Ireland voted remain but the DUP who represent a tiny population compared to the rest of the UK have more power than the government, the EU nations must be laughing their collective bollocks off at the pantomime going on at the moment.
The fighting in cabinet over the length of the extension requested ignores one simple fact. The decision to grant an extension and the length of that extension is in the hands of the EU. It was always the case since the commons voted against a no deal and against May's deal. It really doesn't matter what May requests. The EU will probably come back to May and say: Thank you for your request. We don't see the point of a short extension. You can have 2 years or nothing. Take it or leave it".
It also shows how much our system has been used to first past the post voting and how little we are used to minority government in the commons. Right through out this process the government behaved as if it had a solid majority. When in fact it was in a minority at the mercy of other parties and even factions within its own party. May should have engaged with the other MPs right from the new parliament. No she just didn't have the vision and the leadership qualities required to steer the country through the turbulent waters.
ah hoping is a bit different to "we're staying in". Personally i reckon it is at least 80% chance of No Deal not because many want it but we fall into it though total incompetence & personal/party agendas.
The question facing the EU is: is it in their interest to reject that short extension request unless a deal is accepted prior to 29th March and offer a longer one subject to a second referendum or a GE? And in such a case would May have to put that EU offer to the commons? and will it pass? The commons is so unpredictable and there are so many factions with their own agendas. SNP, DUP, Labour, ERG will all have different reasons for accepting or rejecting. There is no way anyone could have predicted this mess. least of all May whose strategy of forcing her option of a binary choice (my deal or no deal) under threat of time was simply unbelievably naïve.
Much as I'd personally like that proposal, they won't do that as it will play into the hands of the ERG. Can you imagine how they'll play that to the public. Besides, the EU have constantly said it's up to the UK Parliament to decide what they want, not for them to interfere.
reality check. giving the UK an extension is accepting the presence of Nigel farage in for presence.. if I were the eu I'd slam the door in our face for that alone.
