    The claim was 96 people were killed by far right terrorists in the UK and about 100 by Islamic terrorists since 2001.

    Starting from Stephen Lawrence in 1993.

    I can't prove any of this, but it was suggested in a report interviewing a local of the area, that man was well known, it was claimed he had appeared in court on charges. In case this is untrue i will not repeat the alleged charge as it has not been confirmed. He confronted a woman on the tram, possibly related in some way to the court appearance, the public tried to intervene hence the shooting commenced.

    As i say all unconfirmed by the authorities, so might be a load of bolloxs.

    I agree. The first set of replies condemned it out of hand, no iffs, buts or maybes, which seems to have upset some who need to prove that things are somehow different. It's sad to watch.

    Too early to know for sure but just read this bloke was already on the terrorist radar...

    A local businessman told BBC Turkish that Gokmen Tanis had previously fought in Russia's republic of Chechnya.

    Jihadist groups, including those aligned with the Islamic State (IS) group, have long operated in the region.

    "He was arrested because of his connections with [IS] but released later," the businessman told the BBC.
