I was thinking more counter terrorism and intel and monitoring rather than bomb detectors.

With respect to security at the airports, thats more paid by airport terminals than the government though right (although probably past onto us in costs)?

Probably unnecessary but its purely a pr exercise as if you decide to do nothing, no doubt some snowflakes would complain/legal action taken in this day and age because no one did anything to mitigate airport terrorism!

 

But as one of their goals is to over throw capitalism, that sits them toward the left surely?

They want to overthrow all forms of Gvt expect their own. In their imagined global caliphate their version of the Quran would be politics, the law, everything.

 

Don't the other extremists want to replace governments with one of their own ideology too? Which book of fantasies they get their ideology from shouldn't mean the political leaning's are dismissed.

I take your point about terrorism, but a relatively small bomb could cause a plane to crash and kill everyone on board.
It would take a much larger device to kill hundreds in an airport.

 

Seems to make the current boxes redundant then.

I love the way that this is being framed as a choice between a bunch of far-right ****s and some religious lunatic ****s on the other side.
They're two sides of the same ****ty coin. I'm quite happy to chuck the whole thing down an abandoned well somewhere and fill it in.
