Looking at those highlights it's apparent how important Pukki is to the team even when he doesn't score. His perfectly weighted assist for McLean's goal was class. For a high scoring striker, it's incredible how unselfish he is. His lay-off to Buendia when he could have shot is another example. He's also much quicker than first thought. As PD said in his 'Pointers', Godfrey is maturing as a player with every match he plays and his call-up to the England U20s will give him a huge confidence boost.
Pretty much agree and I just hope we can keep the nucleus of the squad together at the end of the season. Yes, thanks for the correction and 3 at home!!
I keep seeing Leeds supporters saying we've got the easiest run of games, but I look at the fixtures and we have got Middlesbrough, Sheffield Wednesday and Villa that will be hard games, all trying to get into the play offs, even games like Wigan and QPR will be tough as they're fighting to stay up.
Over a season everyone plays everyone. So what they are really saying is up until now is they've had easier games than us and should be ahead. I guess it's just their way of admitting we're the better team which is hard to disagree with.
Good read as usual Cromer. I particularly liked his point about Krul: "In such huge and significant change, Krul’s experience in the presence of a young squad and younger back four is paramount. Everyone and everything has its weaknesses. The key is dominating them with your strengths." Krul's gestures to whip up the fans are an obvious indication of his commitment, but his quiet influence on a young back four is much harder to see.
Interesting bit of analysis here, including explaining why Ajayi has such a good match bossing Stiepermann: https://totalfootballanalysis.com/m...mpionship-rotherham-norwich-tactical-analysis
Excellent analysis of the match, Rob. It explains why Stiepermann had such a low key match and also Pukki's willingness to put the team first. His assist and McLean's goal turned the match.
That's a fantastic read. I love things like that. Does this site do this all the time? Might need to make it a regular browse.
Also. Had heard a lot about Ajayi before we played them at home, and I really liked him in that game. I think he was class here, and he scores so many goals! He'd be a target I'd like us to look at if we went up, especially if they go down. I'm not sure they will get relegated though. I mentioned about if we went up, needing a Tetty replacement. He's be my one I think. He can play well at CB, but from his scoring run, and how well he played in Midfield. Would be a cracking signing.
I was also wondering about the possibility of signing him if we go up. It seems to me that Godfrey could also play in a similar role given his experience as a DM for Shrewsbury.
Yes, though they’ve only focused on Norwich relatively recently: https://totalfootballanalysis.com/match-analysis/norwich-hull-championship-tactical-analysis
We need young talented CB's who can play DCM because of being comfortable on the ball and passing out from the back, and bringing the ball forward. Imagine Godfrey at CB, Ajayi in DCM. Krul rolling out to Godfrey, him bringing the ball forward and Ajayi slots in at CB. Visversa. That would be a dream play of Farke's system.
Where does Trybull fit into that? I think he’s been exceptional and for all Ajayi’s quality I still think Trybull would get the nod currently
Also, heighlighted in that breakdown of the game, was the space Aarons had. I saw that SO SO many times against Hull, and they didn't spread it out to him.So many times it was played into the crowd, or Krul would knock it to a bunch of players closing him down rather than just hitting the right touchline where Aarons was in yards of space. Interesting to see, that despite all the praise Max has been getting, they are leaving him unmarked so often, with so much space.
