That's some back catalogue. You have to be some musician to play with those artists.

I saw him on BBC4 documentaries on The Wrecking Crew and Pet Sounds. Cool guy, too.

    RIP.

Addendum: Married and divorced 5 times - obviously an eternal optimist or had a strong love of wedding cake.

I judge acts on their live performances. TRB were great live, a large part of that was Danny Kustow. ...I'm not sure but that sound track has been significantly overdubbed but you get the idea...He was ****ing great...

It's a huge shame that the footage that exists of their headlining performance at Victoria Park isn't worth a light....not because of the performance, which was thrilling.

With the Lords of Chaos film being released later this month, let's have a little bit of Mayhem

...and try to ignore that the bloke playing guitar on this track was murdered by the bloke playing bass stabbing him 23 times

...or that the album title may as well be ROMANES EUNT DOMUS due to its cackhanded translation

As part of the (not my, THE) ongoing celebration of 40 years of the work of genius that is The Damned's 'Machine Gun Etiquette', here's a couple of the less celebrated tracks.

First up, Noise Noise Noise - famed for featuring Joe Strummer and Topper Headon on backing vocals...

...and the forgotten track on the album...'Liar'. It's not a bad track but up against the rest, it struggles a little bit, but I've posted everything else over the years, so its time has come...

Siouxsie and the Banshees are a bit of a forgotten act. They were great live and like The Damned, underwent line-up changes that significantly altered their sound, both heading towards the Gothier side of things. For me, Juju is a superb album and almost certainly their best. I remember being at a mate's place shortly after it was released and him playing 'Spellbound' over and over again - maybe 15 times, before he was made to play the rest of the album.

Veiled behind screens, kept as your baby machine, while you conquer more orifices of boys, goats and things. Was Siouxsie taking about Members of Parliament?

I think the song was about the disappearance of a Princess of an Arab royal family.....Saudi? Also about the general treatment of women in that part of the world.....Plus ca change......Probably get banned nowadays. Only reached no. 32 in the chart, so it more or less was banned.

I recently found out that 'Smash it Up' was banned by the BBC as it was deemed too nihilist...a song about Glastonbury Hippies, frothy lager and blow wave hairstyles...<laugh>

It used to be that the BBC would ban you for confronting the fine upstanding people of Britain with the idea that people have sex (Je t'aime), that people aren't showing blind deference to the royal family (God Save The Queen), that there is such a thing as homosexuality (Relax, Homosapien), that the country is at war in Iraq so anything war-ish or Araby is suspect (Everybody Wants to Rule the World, Back in the USSR, Boom Bang-A-Bang, Walk Like An Egyptian, Give peace A Chance, Two Tribes, We Gotta Get Out of This Place, When The Going Gets Tough The Tough Get Going + 60 others)

These days they only ban things that aren't blindly deferential to the Tories, be it banning Ding Dong The Witch Is Dead from the official countdown when it topped the charts after Margaret Thatcher's death or banning Liar, Liar from the airwaves at the last election for daring to suggest that a three minute Captain Ska single is doing a better job of holding the Tories to account than the BBC

...well, that and *****philia, as Gary Glitter, Lostprophets and Michael Jackson have all found out, although strangely only one set of fans seems to be getting bent out of shape about that one

The BBC are so ****ing bad at it. The most shocking was the banning of Ian Dury' & The Blockheads' 'Spasticus Autisticus' ...

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spasticus_Autisticus

A true landmark moment in thinking about disability and the BBC's response....?

"Hmmmm, difficult subject........Let's ban it and pretend it doesn't exist."

...and just a few years later...

I saw some stupid twat using this to support a racist pro-Brexit rant on Youtube...

...he can only have listened to the part sung by Mick at the beginning.....before Joe's 'Old Man' character totally destroys the idea of a perfect England from a golden, idyllic yesterday. <doh>
