When you have been where we both are,at this time, and you fail with top two,you have no momentum. And as previously said, its all about momentum

    All good fella.

I used to slate Phillips when he first cam into the team. I thought he was awful. And I didn’t cut him the slack of being a youngster chucked into an average team. I was still unconvinced last year.

This years he’s been terrific and i’m Happy to have been wrong about him.

Yep it’s hard being the guys who just missed out on autos playing against a side with probably 10 points less than you but who are on and end of season roll.

I think Douglas only took them from the left, I could be wrong? When he joined from Wolves Pablo was still taking them and I don’t understand why he still isn’t.

Exactly. I honestly think we and you are the best two teams in the division, but if either of us fail with top two,I don't fancy either of our chances in the play offs. I have seen it all before

I think I was just having (another) childish go at Douglas. I expected so much, but it hasn't happened yet. In fact, I now see him as a disruptive force to our flow. I so want him to prove me wrong.

Crainey blocked everything today, I didn’t even slightly rate him when he played for us, just another example of a player fitting into a team and system under a certain coach.

I still believe Douglas has something to offer and that he has something about him. I can’t see him getting into the team ahead of Alioski but I’m not convinced we’re better with Alioski and Harrison over Douglas and Alioski

Part of Douglas reputation was assists and free kicks, the assists were misleading as he took Wolves corners and with big men they scored from a fair few and with the others ahead of Douglas in our team for free kicks he isn’t ever going to get a chance to shine with them.

Added to that we seem to get very few on the edge of the area despite the amount of possession we have around the opposition box

Well I’ll blame sky for that one as the commentator said he had a spell with us under Warnock so I assumed it was one and the same Cranie/Crainey? Actually thinking about it, Warnock was too recent for it to be the same one so I must have misheard what they said :emoticon-0111-blush:emoticon-0138-think

For those who remember my wonderful table from a couple of weeks ago. It has all got a little bit close if you use current league position to assess the strength of upcoming opponents for us and them. The higher the number the easier the team, potentially and 20% easier at home

Sheff utd have more options up front than us. We were crying out for a change yesterday. They look a confident unit and are not slipping up at all. Looking at our fixtures its not as easy as others and west brom are closing. We have to play villa who are pushing for top six. Boro can easily drop out of top six now. We could end up fourth. Then we would be playing a form team arriving in the play offs.
We have had lots of luck and one injury could see us lose out. Pablo out and we would be screwed.

Iv'e been saying since we bought him how disappointed in him i am,not the same player at all who played for Wolves, him & Harrison i would say are the only ones i have not been impressed with,as they promised so much when they arrived, but the rest of the team wow they have been fantastic exceeded all expectations under Bielsa and look where we are now.

Wouldn't worry about Pablo,Jannson is the one we should be worried about, and the injury may have already happened, didn't look good.

Strange day of mixed emotions at ER yesterday.

Left the ground still shaking our heads at how we'd lost a game that seemed there for the taking but that's football I guess. We made Sheffield look fairly ordinary and they certainly didn't play or perform like a team who will finish above us in the league. Ultimately though it's points not performances that will be the key factor come the end of the season and the recent results of both Sheff U and Norwich seem to indicate it's going to be difficult to dislodge either of them from the automatic promotion slots.

Unfortunately the crucial first goal evaded us yesterday and in all probability had it been forthcoming we'd have gone on to win the game fairly comfortably. The approach play down the right hand side in particular created decent opportunities for Bamford and Harrison in the first half and then another glorious cut back in the second half saw Roberts smash his effort against the woodwork.

Taking into account the driving wind and rain, the supposed quality of the opposition and the fact it was a huge match we were dominating until a combination of factors resulted in a very poor concession of a goal. Watching live at the stadium it seemed completely calamity Coopers fault as he failed to deal with a headed flick on, actually getting to the ball first but failing to deal with it properly. Having had chance to review it's clear that the goalscorer starts his run from 10/20 yards behind Phillips and Douglas and one of them should have tracked him. Cooper lost possession but remained goal side and is entitled to expect better support from his teammates. Ultimately it's a matter of opinion but as the goalscorer was playing right side of midfield the majority of the match it was Douglas as left back who should have been aware of the danger and tracked his run.

There is no doubt in my mind that our shape was worse after Harrison went off for Douglas. Allioski was not as loyal to the touchline as Harrison and we suffered by not keeping the width we usually have to stretch teams and create openings. Our right flank continued to be the most productive but unfortunately we just didn't have the quality to unlock the Sheffield defence and too many hopeful balls/crosses came to nothing.

The sending off at the end, a result of a dreadful attempted pass by Cooper and awful control (albeit in a swirling wind) by Phillips summed up how things conspire against us at times and why we have to keep supporting these players. There will be plenty more twists and turns during the run in but if we keep dominating teams and creating chances we'll still have a very good and realistic chance of going up automatically.

Special mention for Pablo Hernandez who was just different class yesterday and stood out head and shoulders above everyone on the pitch. If we'd won he would have been given 10/10 so I don't see why some people have scored him 7/10. We lost but Pablo's performance should not go unrecognized in what was a massive top of the table clash.
