Just got in from the out laws and seen the result. Wolves are a tidy team tbh but OGS needs to get a grip, we need him at OT next season and he’s just been knocked out of both cup competitions (effectively) in the space of 24 hours. I’m getting worried that he won’t get the job permanently. That was a straight red btw
Well looks like all the other big teams have handed city the FA cup this year as well then. Oh them and the officials for managing to award a non existent pen and an offside winner Pathetic rule of VAR only being available at prem grounds. Should be at all grounds capable of using it which Swansea’s ground it.
Strange that we were glad that we were not in this ‘joke’ of a competition before the match and then mocking the mancs that they have been thrashed in an important match. Which one is it? Is it possible that their players suddenly decided to copy our attitude? Are we saying that the FA Cup is an important competition for all others except us? We have hardly room to talk when other teams and their fans (Like wolves and others QFs) are valuing this competition highly and for Wolves it is a chance to win a cup. Of course something we have won plenty of recently and therefore can afford to disregard the ones we don’t deem worthy of our attention.
we were a disgrace and the same attitude started surfacing about cl pre Bayern as well. people seem to think you can switch off in some comps then back on. in my experience of watching teams the top teams never switch off no matter what and that's why they win
To be fair I didn’t watch the game, should they have closed the game out at 2-0 though, not givenncity a chance. FA , PL and EFL have to set the s Does he play for Southampton?
I find it somewhat unsportsmanlike to trash an important competition we are no longer involved in. Why state the FA Cup is a joke of a competition when we have been dumped out of it since the first few rounds? Will it suddenly become a great trophy again should we win it next season?
Everyone wants to go for all four trophies. Reality is only one can and they’ve done it illegally apparently. It’s a squad game. That sataement is especially relevant if you want to rotate to actually win everything. Our squad is simply not as deep in strength as City’s and arguably others. I don’t want to lose but I am grateful for the rest that losing brought our first team. It might just make a difference in the run in. People who don’t like this are of course very entitled to feel that way and I do understand but while I don’t like losing, I totally understand prioritisation and what that might mean. When i say prioritisation, that doesn’t mean throwing a game - it means rotating and possibly reducing the chance of winning. City do it all the time but with their players, their chances of winning are not reduced that much. When our squad has been developed like City’s, clearly my expectations will be different but in the meantime, I simply need to look at the squad that JK inherited 3 years ago and it tells me everything that I need to know. We are heading quickly in the right direction.
City’s quadruple is well on. FA cup: Their name must be on the FA Cup. Fortunate match where they’ve been given 2 dodgy goals to come back from defeat . They should be able to dispose of any of the teams left . Wolves could give them a game but on their day City should be too strong. Champions league: the champions Real are already out. PSG too and one of favourites LFC and Barcelona will go out. They have Spurs and probably Juventus to negotiate but both (or Ajax) should not present difficult hurdles to the Final where anything can happen. The Premiership: in theory probably their toughest one. They need luck too but none of the teams left are stronger than them and they will be favourites to win each match. I think the impossible quadruple is truly on.
But the alternative is to prioritise the 3rd and 4th best options. That’s not how some people think. That’s certainly not how I want Liverpool FC to think. It’s not as though I don’t get the point and I would love our squad to be strong enough to cope - it just isn’t.
It’s been on for a while. They’ve had a great route through most of their cup competitions but that’s the luck of the draw. Yesterday shows you though how hard it will be still. I thought Swansea were very unlucky with decisions.
I didn’t say it wasn’t important did I I simply said that the league and champions league were more important. Am guessing you disagree
There's prioritising and there's throwing like you did FA Cup this season, I would have thought a club like LFC would take the attitude that a trophy is a trophy. Let's be fair you have only won a league cup since 2006. It could all yet work out this season of course if you land the big one but if you don't then it's another season without a trophy and then it becomes harder in itself.
