I have seen Sunderland in two FA cup finals and two League Cup finals.

As a season ticket holder I could have had a ticket for the one in a couple of weeks ahead. I have not bothered.

Yes a day out for a final is fun, especially with the relegations and doom and gloom we have suffered lately, but probably cos I am a curmudgeon, honestly I am not bothered. I have not been to any of the cup games, especially playing against under 21 sides.. to me it just shows the level we have sunk to, but here is hoping we do win and get a lift!

Listening to Benno on the radio the other day, he said about the fixture congestion, playing and winning two games a week is great..and it may help in getting promotion. Is he right? I put down the poor display against Wycombe as a reaction to the semi-final win on the Tuesday?

Physically it's obviously a hindrance, mentally it's a grey area. Winning games is always good, does complacency set in? Probably not with a manager who knows how to handle his players, I think Ross saw it as a potential problem and had them in for a team meeting but it didn't seem to help.

I don't get how people aren't excited about the final though, if football isn't ultimately about winning competitions then why are we bothering? Mickey Mouse competition it may be but it's silverware and on the day it'll be a big occasion for the club.

I don't believe there's any Sunderland fan who will be indifferent to the result when they're watching the game.

Depends how well we play. But for us fans it's a chance to put the stress of the league aside and go enjoy ourselves win or lose.

I will be there and winning would be nice but at the end of the day promotion is what this season is all about as far as I am concerned.

Dealing with the fixture pileup that a cup on top of the league gives is an important learning curve for the club and all involved . It will stand us in good stead when we are travelling to Barcelona in the semis and have to face City to take their top spot only a few days later .

A blind man on a galloping horse can see that the fizzy pop is our number one target,
but the occasion, event on the day,the atmosphere as i said.

Personally think the buzz of a Wembley final, especially if we win in, will be like a turbo shot to the lads.

Aye it's unclear what effect if any it's had so far, apart from fatigue, but I've got no doubt that winning it would be a big boost.

On 2 levels mate the buzz at the home game after would be massive as well.

Can’t be a negative. At this point anyway it’s just 1 game, after a 2 week break.

Don't see how a cup final at Wembley regardless of the level of competition can be seen as a bad thing.

I'm ****ing buzzing for it, I'm sure the lads are buzzing for it.

Suspect you are in the minority.

Good thing too is that if we do lose it shouldn't be a huge hit to morale because it is only a minor cup in the grand scheme of things.

Winning would mean a lot because we haven't won bugger all for so long and it'd represent the turnaround of the club under Donald but I don't see the players going to pieces should we lose.

85 and 90 were enough for me the team never turned up in either finals, missed 92,98, 2014 2019 because we would/could not win them 1998 was different mind and super kev did the half time tombola and got a great reception at the SOL. but not playing for 18 days in the league is bad.
