Gave me the heads up for Newcastle 4:20. 4/1 with skybet at the moment.

Midlands Grand National at Uttoxeter. Though I do like the mare Ms Parfois I reckon the Skeltons have targeted this race for Get on the Yager all season. He ran reasonably in this last year before tiring at the business end. It was his sixth run of the season and this year he's been kept much fresher with just 2 visits to the track. They've also managed to get half a stone of his rating too. Heavy ground fine, light weight ideal in the conditions and the trainer has operated at a whopping 40% strike rate at the track this last 12 months. 20/1 ew. Good luck anyone still punting after the Cheltenham betting bonanza.

So how many have this Midlands national as their target? More than one I reckon, and the skeletons are pretty good at that sort of thing !!

What a week it has been at the festival. I think it's fair to say that yesterday was a great day for the bookies and of course it was marred by the sir erec incident that put a real dampner on the day. R.I.P. The gold cup was a surprise result and i was disappointed in Presenting Percy although he was found to be lame after the race. Perhaps the trainer/connections really need to have a good look at themselves following the unconventional preparation. Was gutted for Definitly Red who was brought down when looking like he was enjoying himself.

Obvious highs were Paisley Park and Frodon winning on the Thursday and Altior taking the champion chase. A fabulous four days that finished late in to the night last night.:emoticon-0167-beer::emoticon-0167-beer:. Now it feels like there is a big lull.:emoticon-0108-speec

In the Midlands grand national I am going to have a punt on Raz de Maree 20/1 each way 5 places today. Is a stalwart in these staying chases and gets his ground today. Handy claimer takes 5lb off too and I see him running a big race to cap off a rather good week for his trainer.

Good luck all if you are playing..no other bets for me today. Come on Ireland for later..then come on England..

I reckon Falsom Blue was held back from going to Cheltenham to target this race.

Elliot seems to have hundreds of horses for O leary , they seem to lose their identity somehow , Folsom obviously has a chance , along with half the field , Potters Midnight , if he stays upright is well handicapped and at three times the price is a better bet !!

Hopefully you’ll get a chance to top up your winnings or recoup some of your loses in the midlands national. I’m told by connections he wins today.
    Cheers.

    17:10 Fontwell - Hier Encore

(Surprising myself that I fancy one today after an extraordinary Cheltenham Festival; what a 4-days of some of the best horseracing I have ever seen, albeit on TV. Anyway, back to grass-roots racing. Think selection has a fair chance in this although no certainty by any means. Receiving loads of weight, stays this distance and probably further too, seems to like this track, ground conditions suit, and ridden by a promising conditional. Modest play at the 3/1 available in all places at the time of writing.)

.........but it's Rugby Union for me today!

    Good luck all! <ok>

Burrows Edge looks a cert to me today after his good comeback run over cd last month.
Ms Pafois will like the ground in the mids national though it is ultra competitive, plots galore.
