Downing has just been consistent last season. <laugh>
Downing has been consistently consistent throughout his career. There is nothing whatsoever that Rooney posessesses that seperates him from the rest in the premiership that puts him in the top class bracket. Face it, he's a 10 a penny forward.

I think you should wait until Suarez has had a full season before you start jizzing your knickers about him. He's had a decent start, yes he may have mesmerized you after dancing past the nasty Man Utd defence but let's see him do it throughout a season. Rooney has consistantly played at the highest level scoring goals consistantly and setting up goals consistantly. He has been a key player in United's success in the past 5 years in which United have been the 2nd best team in Europe. When Ronaldo left (who was the best player in the world at the time) Rooney adapted to an out and out striker role and took the scoring responsibility scoring 34 goals that season.

I don't see the argument here. Rooney is the best player, along with Vidic, in a world class team who have been consistantly at the top at home and in Europe.

Dodo dodododo dodo do doo dodo dodododo dodo dodo, I'm off to Clown College.

Matey, noone denies he has ability, he just can'yt use it for 60% of the time so no, wrong wrong wrong I'm afraid, actually producing the goods counts when judging if he is world calss, not just hte ability to do it on and off, mostly off

Also, you talk of hatred, I am not the one attempting some school yard abuse there. I am anything but emotional over this thread:) You on hte other hand cannot stand people disagreeing with your estimation of a misfit footballer

That still doens't answer the question. As an individual what actual talent has Rooney got that seperates him from the rest? I have mentioned Suarezs' close control that could potentially make him world class. Now what does Rooney possess?

Now you are being stupid KPR I have just shown you Downings poor statistics 25 assists in 4 seasons in all competitions. Compare that with Ashley Young's 55 assists (same as Rooney who also scores a lot of goals) that is so poor and very inconsistant.

Rooney has goals in his game and also brings other players into play to score goals. Compare Rooney's assists to Torres' 18 assists in 4 years and I don't think you will disagree when I say Torres along with Drogba (43 assists) have been the best strikers in the league over the past 4 years. Yet Rooney has more assists and has scored just 5 goals less than Torres and 9 less than Drogba.

If you think Drogba is world class and Torres has been world class then it shows Rooney is world class. He has just as much to his game as those two do and he is only going to get better.

Plus the fact he was performing in a successful side.

Good reply to counter my claims..

I see you cannot deny the stats that show Rooney has been consistant on the level of Torres and Drogba while winning more trophies than them as well <ok>

Totally agree. There is NOTHING that Wayne Rooney can do that RVP cannot, but there are plenty of attributes in RVP's game that Rooney just cannot live up to. For the best example of this, watch RVP for 90 mins in a holland match, where he is able to play in his preferred position, and you'll see exactly what I mean.

When someone claims black is white, I need not try dispute it when it is so obvious you are incorrect:)

Torres is not world class, Drogba was, he's old

The four names that spring to mind, other than the obvious ones, are - Silva, Suarez, Vidic, and Rooney (on his day).

Fabregas is the best player in the world apart from Messi and Ronaldo. Xavi and Iniesta look better because they play with each other, the best player (potentially) of all time and a team full of world class players. Fabregas will prove how much more dangerous he is this season, and probably be a starter next season.

I think Suarez is a fair one as is Vidic, both perform steadily and on all stages, unlike Wayne, fair kop sky

Firstly I never said Drogba is world class. Torres WAS world class up until 2 years ago, now he's useless. You still haven't named that one thing that Rooney possessess in his locker that makes him world class. You said Rooney is world class because he's a team-player?
So is Dirk Kuyt, but nobody suggested that he's world class. Is the reason that Rooney is world class, the fact that he plays for Manchester United? Sorry I cannot for the life of me think of anything else.
    PS. Who is KPR?

<laugh> What is this FIFA? You can debate who can do the better Cruyff turn all you want, what people actually base their opinions on is whether a player can perform consistantly at the highest level, score goals, assists and helping the team to trophies. This is something Rooney keeps on doing.

Oh dear, you do not know a lot about Xavi, who for me makes Inestia better. Fab has his chance to prove it now, but he has to prove it first

Okay what? nothing that puts him in the top class bracket?

    Firstly ill state the obvious.

    He's passionate.
    He's tireless.
    He's hungary for the ball.
    He never gives in.

    Now for the skillful part.

He's powerful but at the same time he has alot of speed for a guy his build.
He's a decent header of the ball.
    More than decent finisher.
More than a decent passer and crosser.
He has also linked up well with mainly all his striking panthers for 5-6 years now, he's always in the first team.

To say he isnt top class is just pathetic and idiotic and it really makes you look like a fool.

You are KPR. Good job you are keeping it civil. Let's see how long it lasts.

You don't understand football really do you? Just because Suarez has better 'close control' than Rooney and can take a few players on suddenly he is better? Is Bale better than Rooney because he possesses more pace. If you can't see what Rooney brings to a team (football is a team sport) and that in itself makes him world class.
