Last time we were promoted to the promised land we had the likes of David Batty, Chris Kamara, Vinney Jones and Ian Baird; players that were known better for there tough tackling rather then there footballing skills. Do clubs need the likes of a Julian Dicks or a Terry Hurlock to be able to get to the Premiership. Lets see if we can put together a hard man XI, either retired or still playing today...
Pompey's team of the late eighties, in it's entirety. If they were on the razz, after a home game, it was best to give them a very wide berth.
Hey Pompey, yeh, we know all about Vince Hillaire and Noel Blake, you wouldn't mess with em. Look at this clip, hilarious
I wish we still had Julian Dicks. A real tough nut,but could also play football and had a sweet left foot.
What game was this?! I like the steward near the end, when it looks all over, comes steaming in to "usher people away from the situation". Are the voices in the background Italian maybe? Yeah, Blakey and Vince, who owned a seafront nightclub in Southsea for a number of years, were two from that side. Also Tait, Kennedy, Gilbert are three more, that spring to mind. Hardmen's, hard men all.
Typical Hurlock, surrounded by a couple of meatheads, he couldn't fight his way out of a paper bag the big ****
Scotland's manager, Craig Levein once punched Graham Hogg in the face, after they lost a goal playing for Hearts. I can't find any video of this, but Levein was not to be messed with as a player. Another has to be Scott Brown of Celtic and Scotland, they don't come more thuggish and utterly mad than Scott Brown.
I remember this guy playing for Rangers and being a complete numptie. I concur with the "couldn't fight his way out of a paper bag the big ****", he was found out in Glasgow and got the hell out of the place a.s.a.p.
most sent off players http://www.statbunker.com/football/ktg/index.php?PL=ktgalltime&Code=EPL&statType=sentoff Wasn't aware Radebe got sent off twice
If he punched Hoggy, he must be hard. Hoggy was playing for Pompey and during a game he broke his collar bone (an X ray was taken after the match), I think it was, and he kept playing for a good while after it happened.
