i feel he's looked disinterested, and in a team like ours we need every player at 100%. also, as good as he is, he's actually a luxury forward for a team like ours, he's the kind of player a top four/five side has on the bench to change a game, but he's not a goalscorer, and that's what we desperately need. if he carries on looking lazy and wasting decent chances, then get rid, as we can't afford to carry him, and a goalscoring replacement would be much more value to us imo.
I disagree. He's a very talented player, but the way we play just wastes him. If you've watched him for Ghana, he is superb, he tormented England, and was one of the stars of the World Cup. The only game for us he's been really outstanding was Stoke home last season, and the half an hour against Wigan before he got crocked.
Simply Gyan needs to score goals and play in a system that will give him that chance, goal-scorers who do not score are not generally very popular! SB coming out and whinging that agents have upset his equilibrium have ot helped the lad. He is a talent and he needs to start proving it if he wants away otherwise nobody will bid for him
Could the arrival of Bendtner take some of the pressure off him and help him maybe? I know Bendtner's ego can write the big cheques but if he can deliver on it Gyan will get help in a massive way, and a winning team is a happy team......well until Aston Villa make an illegal approach again!!!
I love Gyan. I think he can produce moments of sheer world class talent. If he adds a bit of consistency to his game then he could be amazing! HOWEVER if he doesn't want to play for us and his head has been turned then why go to great lengths to keep him? I'm sure we could get a good price and buy someone else with the money. Sad that I have to write this but that's 21st century football for you.
I've got to say though Gyan and Bendtner could be a brilliant partnership! I think the latter will thrive on regular game time for a club with lower expectations than Arsenal. Hopefully if he has a tough game today people won't just write him off. Give the lad time and he'll come good!
We always knew Gyan wouldn't be here for longer than 3 years, but i'd at least like to see him have a full, and succesful year, so if he does go, it's for a nice handsome profit. A swap for Gignac, as mooted in the window, would be classed as a healthy profit by me mind, Gignac is a £16-18million player IMO. Thing is, Asa is a good passer as well, a very good passer in fact, and he likes the ball. We are desperately short of players who want the ball all the time, and that is one of the things that costs us dear.
