Big clubs’ fans are obliged to buy tickets normally well in advance and for just about every game to ensure a ticket for the games they really want to see. I know loads of fans of Arsenal, Spurs and others who buy to get the loyalty points and immediately try and sell the ticket on, which for a Europey or League Cup game or just a boring league midweeker isn’t easy at face value. The result is for some games the attendance > the true demand.

On the flip side, you could probably fill a 100k seater for Liverpool v United, Arse v Spurs etc.
