http://joesaward.wordpress.com/2011/09/10/change-coming-in-singapore/ I'm still undecided on my opinion of the current track. As a street circuit it's currently very demanding with no breaks at all and it definetly has the drama and spectacle of a street race, no doubt about that, but I don't think I like a single corner on the track (actually that's not true, I do like Turn 18). So I'll open this up to you guys. Thoughts?
whats the 'S' that they drive straight through but if they get it wrong they go flying? thats not bad. but you are right I dont like the final sector at all. Its a really annoying slog to the finish line
The last two corners (one of them must be 18) are the fast left handers aren't they? They're pretty good. I like Singapore, I'd give the track itself about 6/10 but I like seeing the cars at night.
Nah, that's 22 and 23. 18 is the very narrow left hander that goes under the grandstands a few corners earlier. You're right on the rating of the track and i'm heaps glad that they're keeping at night. And yes Bando a sports Hub like Abu Dhabi but it shall be nowhere near as boring. Nothing could be as boring as Abu Dhabi.
With 61 laps and many tight corners -the rain a constant risk - this could be another exciting race. Short gearing and a wet setup might be the order of the day?
This behind Valencia has been one of the most consistently dull new tracks imo. Will have to see what impact the new tyres have on it. Also, has it ever rained in Singapore before?
I'm not sure it's going to rain. we haven't had a wet singapore race yet, and sadly, i fear we have to wait another year
well we are a few weeks away from the recognised rainy season - but right now its gonna be rain for some days...... http://news.bbc.co.uk/weather/forecast/89
I like the night racing, but its a terrible circuit. I expect the race to be dull by 2011 standards, but the most exciting F1 race held in Singapore. I wouldn't mind seeing rain. That could help Ferrari avoid a major embarassment.
well then it's a good thing they're thinking about relocating to their new 'Sports Hub' being built not far from the current track. It will still be at night and will still be a street race and will still have that giant blue ferris wheel for a backdrop but the track will change. Just to stop traffic disruption. I have already made a thread on this
I hope they don't have another corner like the Singapore Sling in the new track. Even Hamilton called it "the worst corner in F1".
