Get the fook out of it,no deal walk away and invest our money into the police, nhs, schools, transports.
Looking less and less likely, I fear MP’s will not deliver the will of the people, in which case I fear the reprocussions could last years. More people voted in the Brexit referendum than normally vote in general elections because they think it’s a waste of time, they will have been proved right , so why bother voting at all.
They are voting on whether to allow a ‘no deal’ Brexit today I fully expect that to be defeated if it is, then there will be another vote on extending Article 50 - which would probably get through (if not then we default back to ‘no deal’!!) As I see it (trying to be objective and agnostic), the options would then be (assuming an article 50 extension is approved by the E.U.): - Try and negotiate more changes to May’s agreement - but the E.U. have said it’s that or no deal - hold a General Election - but I can’t see May competing, so there would need to be a new Tory leader first - and anyway, whoever won the GE would simply have to pick up where May left off - just kicking the can further down the road - hold a second (well, fourth really) referendum on the 3 options and let the people decide, now details are understood; Remain, No Deal, or May’s deal. This is contentious and would have to be organised in such a way that it did not split the Brexit vote. I can’t think of any other options Whatever happens the fallout from this whole debacle will last for decades - even longer perhaps - it may NEVER go away - probably the ONLY thing that we can all agree on!!!
I'm sorry guys, but is this not what I've been saying all a-fecking-long? No border with Ireland, no customs checks, anyone can walk in illegally.... Is that what you 'no deal' Brexiteers voted for? I must admit, this meltdown is at least fascinating. For good or for bad, we have daily drama surrounding this, it's absolute madness!
I find the meltdown depressing and I’m seriously worried about the future of my country and the people in it. Cameron caused this and every day the debacle continues I hate him a little bit more. Fancy offering a choice to the people where one choice had not been prepared for and would take years and years to achieve - if at all. He’s certainly earned his place in history....... and I’m ashamed that I actually voted for him (as my wife reminds me every time I moan about Brexit)
I've changed my post slightly since you quoted it annoyingly, but yeah I agree mate. No deal is flat out impossible without being daft beyond belief so it should have been remain v deal of some sort.
If there is a new vote to the people, then it should be between "a deal" or no deal.....REMAIN shouldn't even be on the table.........we've done that!!
That’s interesting Wiz - because this article (from a Brexit-supporting paper) seems to say the very opposite: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/ar...tariffs-revealed-Car-prices-rocket-1-500.html ....yet another example of the confused messages we are all getting. How are we supposed to make an informed choice when the information is contradictory?
I think wiz's link is correct. It only refers to 'most' products, so cars will still have those tariffs. Problems with that, are that it can harm UK manufacturing businesses as it costs more to make these products here than it would in say, China or India. So while that is aimed at helping the consumer, it can totally **** our manufacturing. And also it's temporary. I'll need to do a little more research into it to fully understand it. So just to be clear. You accept now that no deal means that we have a completely open border with Ireland, we can't check anything coming in and anybody can come in illegally? Just checking as Brexit was apparently 'taking back control of our borders', but the Government have just proven that's not the case this morning. Which is what I've been saying for months. If you still back that then fair enough but I was told I was talking nonsense a few months ago on this point.
This is typical of the state of the whole debate, bcfc I am not very well up on the tariffs so I will listen and learn.
I did think that - but then there would only be a change in the demographics if people have changed their minds. If everyone voted the same way then ‘Leave’ would win and the TYPE of Brexit would be clear. Surely people should be allowed to change their minds on something so critically important, now more details are known, before embarking on a path from which there could be no return?
I think you guys are absolutely right regarding another vote. I have absolutely no idea what 'should' be done. Cameron gambled with this country, was too arrogant, assuming he would win, and now we're in this mess which we will still be discussing when I'm collecting my pension!
I still think we have the technology to sort out the border controls.......landing anything on Mars 20 years ago was seemed impossible!
