    Back to Shambimba.

Why is her lawyer asking for an ‘act of mercy’ from the Home Office if they have acted outside of the law? Any good lawyer worth their salt would just mount an appeal that is bound to succeed if the HO had acted illegally.

You don’t need acts of mercy if the law is on your side in this country.

That article says there was 38 known *****s on the entire Algarve, that’s a big old area.

The idea that someone broke into to a shuttered appt on the Ocean club in full season in the relatively early evening has always been extremely suspect imo. I’ve never had their story.

You're right in that DNA evidence is conclusive. When DNA evidence is given in court it is usually 99% or above and I've never heard of a case that's failed to convict on it, it is that strong. But when the percentage isn't high enough the DNA isn't used because it isn't conclusive. Simply because at a lower % it is ambiguous, and rightly so, including the example you've given. That's all that's happened here.

Regardless of the facts, a rumour would be enough for me not to want to leave my kids unattended for even 2 mins nevermind a whole night.

How old was Maddie when she went 'missing' ? I wouldn't ****ing dream of leaving my daughter alone, not even in my own house, let alone in a holiday apartment. Wasn't the story that they went for dinner and left here there ? ****ing twats.

Yeah but i'm referring to a particular type of DNA ie fibres from clothing, toys, maybe skin cell shedding particles (not sure if that last one comes under the same category) etc - i've never heard of percentages coming into those before, it's either a match or not, so that leads in itself for me to think that means it's referring to blood particles or something of that bilogical context.

The one theory that I can buy into is that they killed the girl by accident some time before the “discovery” of the crime. They would have needed a fair amount of time to come up with a body disposal plan, especially as they were in a town they didn’t know that well. They would also have to be incredibly confident that they weren’t going to get found out to continue courting media attention.

Don't forget the child. I know it's an easy mistake to make when you go out, though.

If it was a sample of saliva or blood or hair it would be analysed against a control (the child's) and then it would be either a match (conclusive) or way off so as to rule out. If it was one of the parent's blood or saliva or hair they'd do the same against their control and rule it out. So it can't be that? The way that article is written it sounds like it's something that could be a combination of DNA from parents. But what the thing was that they found to test I don't know. Unless the parents both snogged and it was mixed saliva stain or they were both crying and mixed tears (pure guesswork on my part here).

I think we can all agree there was neglect, I'm just not convinced the parents were involved. If it was them, then I am sure they would've been caught.

I thought the DNA was extracted from dried blood found behind the sofa in the apartment and in the boot of the rental car?

Fair amount of time before that evening meal, their other kids give them away when interviewed. A fair amount of time after the "abduction" I can't see how they'd get away with it with the police, media and locals all over them.

It's the one specific to the rental car because that was hired after her abduction. The question is, if the child's DNA was there then they would be absolutely banged to rights.

I think the teddy would have been crucial in the investigation... To wash it pretty much instantly is very suspicious, imo.
