You must be gutted, Matth? Perhaps when Little Ollie ****s up completely, Fergie can persuade him to come out of retirement, yeah? After all, Zidane has been persuaded to go back to Real. So, don't feel down.
But they get 70k plus, every game... You lot have never ever had that, despite your **** up on another thread saying they did..
Largest capacity club ground in the country back in the day was The Valley. Palace was another one capable of holding 75000+ Although Hamden was the biggest in the UK
Would love to have gone to the Valley when they had a huge terrace down one side. Still not been and on my list anyway. Think Hampden still holds the British record doesn't it? 135k for a Celtic EC semi iirc.
Something like that, yeah. Never been there, but it must be massive. The Valley, like Selhurst had these steep grass standing places right at the top of one end, behind the concrete bit. Thousands would stand there, but it was ****ing lethal if it was wet. There were no barriers One slipped and every **** fell over.
I know there have been a few tragedies at football grounds over the years, but given the numbers that used to attend at facilities that were lethal by today's standards, it's a wonder there weren't more high profile incidents.
This is that Valley terrace, was the biggest open one in England for quite some time I believe: Think that was towards the end judging by that picture, bet that was a buzz around that place but as NSIS said a health and safety nightmare!
I remember that day clearly. Horrible horrible incident. Remember seeing footage of a policeman on fire who'd been trying to get people out of that stand. Horrific stuff.
Apparently a lot of Fire Brigades use it as training material to show just how quickly fire spreads and how it can trap people.
