serious question. my other halfs family is part Irish. I have heard Ireland in parts is beautiful, and from what i have seen it seems true i have always wanted to visit, but being non white/muslim was told i would get grief any truth in that? and where is best place for a family break (have a disabled kid). dont like the commercially type areas cheers
In Northern Ireland I would go to the north Antrim coast. The most beautiful place in the world. No question Otherwise I would go to west Mayo. Also beautiful.
"any truth in that?" No. From personal opinion the north antrim coast is lovely, loads of castles, ruins, walks and great scenery. I was up there in the summer with family for the first time in years and forgot how relaxing and peaceful it was.
Ballyhaunis. Great big Mosque in the middle of the country. It is a strange sight, unthinkable 20 years ago but it is a different place now.
cheers fellas i didnt think so tbh. but when holidaying now have to consider allsorts probably just being over protective of my lad tbh antrim sounds lovely whats the best way to get there/get accomodation etc and is it pricey?
ok tfwnn if you are serious go to west cork/kerry region. its a load of **** to me because its on my doorstep but ive been on holidays listening to bar men raving about the scenery. are you a non white muslim or a non white non muslim ? either way youll get no grief unless you start
Co clare is nice. The burren, cliffs of moher and la hinch beach. Plus the highest mountain in the land, Corran Tuathil, is nearby in Kerry.
Actually id advise you to land over during a big trad music festival. The All Ireland fleadh is just over but Ennis Tradfest in Clare is on the weekend of 10th Nov. Trad festivals are mighty craic
yeah i am serious hash. Its a place i always wanted to visit but never got round to family issues meant no holidays for last 10ish years, been to france recently and want to go somewhere before it gets too cold as for my family, we are pretty messed up tbh, I have an ex trainee catholic priest, white, middle eastern and african in laws, it may explain some of my views lol
Bring your motor in through one of the ports. The place is littered with lovely B&Bs. Spoilt for choice. You will certainly have no trouble due to your race/sons disabillity. Nothing that the odd arsehole wouldn't ruin of course. That happens everywhere and being from England that will strike a chord. We Irish treat visotors like royalty while treating each other like ****e
You'd be cheaper going some place else. The Coast of Antrim is defined by the giants causeway.....but that ain't that great. It is a grand spot though. The wilds of Donegal are like no place on earth. The Burren is beautiful, Galway/Connemara is amazing. west Cork and Kerry are stunning. Dublin is ****.
Cheap enough. Depends where you are comin from. You need a car to get about so the boat if coming from Scotland, if flying in then you'll need to rent a car that could be a bit pricey. You can easily get a house for rent in Portstewart which is a lovely wee area, and within walking distance to the promenade. My bro lived up there years ago and when we were up there he took us out to see all the castles, picked one out which is unknown to many, can't remember the name but it was off a wee road and it looked like no one had been there in years. Let us know before you go and i'll find the location out for ya, really weird going to it, a hidden wee gem
Kerry is a beautiful county, there are some spectacular drives if you go off the roads that everyone drives around. Galway is another beautiful county and there is a traditional music festival there in a town called Gort in October which is always very good.
tbh those days are long gone. due to the nature of my little ones disability crowded places are out nice quiet out of the way places are in to sound a bit bigotted (tbf though my part irish family say this) no drinking and partying irish style
Waaaay much more up there than just the giants causeway. The giants causeway is alright but not suitable for taking someone in a wheelchair, well for most of it, lots of nicer places around there imo.
Cushendall, Cushendun and the Glens of Antrim are more than just the Causway. The most beautiful place in Ireland
