Which is why May would never agree to it. There's self preservation going on in spades in both the Tories and Labour. Labour has a big contingent in Parliament that don't want that second vote. Corbyn and McDonnell are having to straddle that fence painfully.

I know and get that. I'm sure you have witnessed or seen the aftermath of a lot worse. A kid in the town next to me threw a crap punch aswell, unfortunately his victim died from it. Now I'm not saying grealish was in serious danger for his life but this fella ran on to deliberately punch him and do damage. What if it had been a lucky/unlucky killer punch? Would 14 weeks have been sufficient also? As for setting an example, it hasn't really. He will be out in less than a month with the beers on his mates and pats on the back all round.

The problem is that Many MP's from Labour leave constituencies are remainers and betraying their voters. the conservatives have more leave MP's. Agree May will be held responsible but Labour has dithered under the useless Corbyn who by the way is only playing games again. When it comes to it do you honestly believe he would want to stay in the EU when he has spent his life trying to get out? Ain't gonna happen. If it gets to the Cooper/Bowles vote MP's will bottle it regarding an extension and referendum. The country won't let them. May would pull the plug and get a GE... which means enter a Brexit party who will clean up.
All these threats about taking over and changing laws won't get MP's anywhere other than deselected. just threats.

A big majority Labour voters back a second referendum....

    https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/politics/northern-labour-voters-back-brexit-14080600

That's a survey of 5,000 people, as opposed to your sample of a handful of phone-in callers.

I posted a survey of 184K which showed majority wanted a no deal Brexit.
You 'handful' comment is also wide of the mark. it shows people from all walks of life all over the country and not some remain Mirror poll.
As I said bring on a GE!

Any move that leads to a permanent Custom's Union. Labour couldn't pass it on their own, and most Tories won't vote for Christmas

No mate, of course if he had killed Grealish the punishment would be more severe....but he didn’t, that’s my point. I’m sure in your example in your town the fella was rightly punished more severely.
It’s just I’m seeing in the media that the fella should be given years inside, police should be armed at matches to deter pitch invaders and Birmingham should be deducted umpteen points and play games behind closed doors....it all seems a bit OTT.

Ah yes, the Twitter poll that even the bloke that set it up said shouldn't be taken too seriously.

The point about the YouGov (not Mirror) poll is that was a survey of Labour voters in Northern constituencies - the very people you say would flock to a Brexit party. In reality, large numbers of Labour voters that voted Leave have changed their minds.

The kid who got sent down near me was the son of a good friend. A boozy night out, a silly altercation with a drunk guy, one punch and a few lives ruined. Armed police wouldnt have stopped, the pitch invader, points deducted wouldnt stop more, but a 2 year sentence would make someone seriously think about committing violence in front of millions of witnesses.

Respect your views as always Bob even though I might disagree.
There was a good programme on tv a while back looking at ‘one punch’ killings from the view of the victims families and the perpetrator.....all very sad as the aggressors in the main were deeply sorry for what happened and were devestated in what their actions had caused. Well worth a watch if you can find it.

Cheers Staines. Will have a scan for it. My mates lad, never had a bad word for anyone, sticking up for a lass who was getting some **** from this drunken guy. The rest is history. My nephew has just joined the first response paramedics up here in Leeds, the stories he tells, well I'm sure you can imagine. My hat goes off to you guys and all public servicemen and women.

Just had a quick look and the programme is on YouTube.....the story you mentioned is very similar to the ones on TV....as I say, all very sad and no winners.
Good luck to your nephew.....he’ll love it for sure.
