Not being funny, but the best thing supporters can do is stop buying ST en masse. A season of that and they'll soon buckle. The problem is while people keep paying (even £950) the clubs will keep thinking they can charge it.

AND they won't care who's buying them. So if a hardcore supporter gets priced out so be it as long as someone else can fill the seat. I don't know about Spurs, but basically at United the vast majority of the revenue isn't from ST's anyway. They could halve the prices and it would make fck all difference to the club. Although tbf ST for United aren't as expensive as some London clubs, but it has priced people out.

This was the problem at Arsenal when people were protesting against the board/Wenger. People were saying they wouldn’t renew their ST and it would ‘hit the coffers of the club’, but the reality is that there are thousands of people on the waiting list and loads of tourist/corporate types who will just snaffle them up.

That’s the payoff with building shiny new stadiums, the club can then charge whatever the **** they want.

Completely agree. The clubs know enough fans won’t ever do that though so they’ll continue to exploit us.

Germany puts us to shame, their season tickets are dirt cheap. Uli Hoeness even said this a few years back:

‘We could charge more than £104. Let's say we charged £300. We'd get £2m more in income but what's £2m to us?

'In a transfer discussion you argue about that sum for five minutes. But the difference between £104 and £300 is huge for the fan.

'We do not think the fans are like cows, who you milk. Football has got to be for everybody.

'That's the biggest difference between us and England.'

So no then but you are confident others will. What gives you that confidence? The fact that 76,000 people went to a game in 1972?

  7. Well, Time will tell.

I’m sure it will be smeared across the media if we fail to sell all season tickets.

I can see the tickets selling out in the first season as some fans remember how much they love Spurs. In the second season they may not be so keen as they remember why they found trudging along to watch a team win nothing a bit tedious.

Depends on how they do yeah but I'm sure there's plenty of tourists to take up the slack.

Rule is 10% or 3000, whatever is smaller. Which is why the big clubs only offer 3k.

Absolute bollocks on so many levels. You never got close to a 70k crowd in the 70s.

EDIT: The Lane held 52-55k in the 70s.

Martin Chivers, my arse. You were never there

I was only a little kid, but I’ve been there when the crowd was over 60,000

Agree that Spurs would have got 60k crowds in early 60s, and crowds close to 60k in late 60s... around 57k.

But to say Sours regularly got 70k crowds in the 70s in absolute cobblers. And HIAG obviously didn't go in the 70s, because Spurs had seats at White Hart Lane, as all clubs did, from early on

So he just added the extra 10k for good measure?

Closer to 20k. Their highest league attendances topped 50k in 70s. Some season their highest league crowd was under 50k.

In some seasons, such as 73/4 their highest league attendance in Div 1 was 42k. And they averaged 26 that season

Wembley is a nice day out in the Spring, for a final or semi. As a venue for a league match in December it didn’t appeal at all to me as a visiting supporter. I’d have gone to their new stadium, had it been finished.

I was thinking it was more of a nice day out for people who don’t live in north London.

My ST at St Mary’s has been steady at around £550 since we got back to the PL in 2012. And we haven’t been **** all that time either.

I doubt Wembley had ever been used in midwinter before last season. It is incredibly cold in bad weather.
